Re: My dumb mini stock tech questions
I don't condone cheating by any measure but cmon deck height? Head gasket thickness? Milled heads? That is silly to expect anyone in tech to measure any of these things. It's a sportsman race. Let's say you have the 9:1 compression 2.x liter cheater, at the end of the day this is a low budget sportsman class. Probably one of the cheapest forms of offroad racing out there. If you cheat, win, dominate, you're still a loser in anyone's books. "spirit of the rules" here guys. Keep it cheap and tune your truck better than the guy next to you.
As for the carb issues, check out proform and quick fuel technologies for lower budget solutions. Insisting on a weber is silly real cheaters would put a holley body on a mikuni slider :P

Re: My dumb mini stock tech questions
My motor is a 2.x liter with 9.2:1 compression, am I going to jail?
My guess is that someone is forgetting that this is a claimer class.

No fingers, just pointing out that it's a sportsman class. Rules are rules follow them the best you can and have fun.
Keep up the good work guys!

I already made a fool of myself in this thread. I was in no way looking for a power advantage. if anything the Holley being 50cfm more than the Weber should give it a performance advantage. at this point I'm looking at getting the EFI to work. If I cant make that happen i will order one of the 350 knock offs.

Re: My dumb mini stock tech questions
Since this is a potential place someone might look for answers to a tech question...
There is a rules update/ clarification coming in the next week or so.
Aftermarket brake and clutch lines will be allowed so that these lines can be routed safely on these trucks since they aren't required to have any of the stock inner panneling in front of the firewall. Also, it will be clarified that the brake and/ or clutch master cylinder may be re-located if necessary to avoid contact with the tire at full compression. The stock OEM master cylinders must be used, even if they are re-located.
There are a couple more clarifications that are coming, but nothing that has any real bearing on performance potential just safety and convenience.

Re: My dumb mini stock tech questions
more dumb questions
Can the motor mounts be strengthened or redesigned?
Can under drive pulleys be used?
Can a crank scrapper be added?
And last. Any idea when we could see the new rule book?
thanks again, Bob
aswer
We think the aftermarket motor mounts will be ok and we will add that to the rule updates.
No on the crank scraper
No on the pulleys they must be stock
We are working on the rule updates/clarifications now. I can't promise a time on the rules as we are working on the big series rules as well, but hopefully in about two weeks. Nothing big changing mostly clarifications
Thanks,
good thing on the motor mounts. few good jumps and the stockers fail. I pretty much knew the aswers to the pullys and crank scraper. but just wanted to be sure.

Re: My dumb mini stock tech questions
Will strapping the motor help at all, or are bushing mounts pretty much mandatory?
