To be crystal clear I do not blame the driver in any way.

I agree with the Mark Oberg post too... he's the only pro light with a heavier steel chassis (not 4130).

What gets me is the number of years that these guys put into the sport without the right stuff.
Hell even I can see what it takes and I haven't even officially raced two complete seasons yet. Of course my background is two wheels only, and a bicycle at that. It has taken a bit get up to speed, but to get from here to there I know what's needed. You will only see us racing next year if we have something that's capable of running up front. With the amount of money it takes to race a single weekend it's just not worth it unless you do. Seat time is one thing then there comes the time to be competitive or hang it up it's just to damn expensive to do as a hobby. I'm just being totally honest with this one. DP

It's a funny thing, that desire.

So Jimmy - are you really just wondering aloud or trying to foreshadow something in the works? I really enjoyed watching Kent last year. He's a very talented driver. I remember watching everyone fight the hard-packed clay turn at Oshkosh. You could see the steering was all jerky and the throttle was all over the place. Kent had it dialed in. Silky smooth and on the throttle all the way around. |

Mefirst, only time will tell what is in store for next season.
Prolite13, even running up front is not finacially worth it, just thee fun factor is all you can count on. We southern boys are going to groom a few more this coming season and send them out to see you guys. Like to see several of our current mud racers step up and come do some battle, same place Kent came from. Mud racing like we do makes for very easy transition to off road. Jimmy |

I understand that desire. I have been racing something since I was five years old and I turned 36 last Sunday so that's 31 years of racing experience in one form or another. Desire is when your in the third stage of a triathlon and your body is giving up but your mind takes over and makes you finsh the race. Unfortunately when racing a vehicle your strapped in and your results will be determined by your equipments desire.

Your preaching to the choir on this issue I am in the same boat as Brascho with an old, heavy , and underpowered truck in an already underpowered class. If we don't ramp up the motor program as well as put the truck and myself on a diet for next season, we will not be capable of running up front period. These changes have to be made or it won't happen. What's the use in rolling around the track as another also ran? We are there to compete and race for the win. If there were other series regional or local out there to race in then these views might be different, but until that's available the only option is to race at the sports highest level and to run up front a price tag is attached. I used to think that Fig could race my truck and still win, but that view has changed as well this season due to being on the sidelines and watching/learning most of the year. It's become very obvious to me that if you don't have the right equipment, due to the level of talent and equipment that's on the track racing today. Your chances of running up front are slim to none let alone grabbing a podium spot. No disrespect to Brascho or Oberg these guys rip and so many others are out there that don't even race now I'm sure. I'm only stating the obvious here. The fun factor is what keeps me going unfortunately the fun factor doesn't replinish my wallet though. Thats where the marketing approach comes in and without exposure it's a tough sell all the way around. (The only option is to run up front in this sport.) DP
