Default Example of the need for safety equipment

With all the talk of new fire resistant helmets i thought this would show why you need the best safety gear, a good in car fire system is also a wise choice.

part 1

part 2, he made it through alive, recovered and is now racing again.

Man, that's nuts! I bet he was dying to get that melted helmet off his head.

I doubt he was wearing a 1 layer suit and an M rated helmet...or the outcome would have been way worse. It looks like he's wearing an high end OMP suit, probably 3 layer but you can still see where it was burned through to his underlayer.

If that were an off road car, there would have been nobody there to help except rabbits.
Another good reason to have an onboard fire system, not just a hand held that you pobably couldn't get to in a serious shunt with fire like that.

The the safety crew didn't seem real sensitive to the dudes probable 3rd degree burns when they were throwing him in the mini van...ouch.

Just think what could happen if you are upside down, In the thick of tree's and bushes. Secondly what happen's if you become un-concious...scary thought
Now let's see if a thread gets started about 2 layer vs. 3. Or nomex vs. pro-ban. Fire extinguisher vs. flame-out system's???????

Wow I'm speechless, I hope that never happens to anyone in desert racing. That makes me think twice about my safety equipment.
