IMPORTANT AND URGENT: New (more specific) Petition to Save Johnson Valley

As many of you know, Johnson Valley OHV is being seriously considered by the US Marine Corps as their new training area. The public scoping meetings and studies have been completed. The Public Comment period ends on January 31st, 2009.



Five of the options that were offered took all or a portion of Johnson Valley, the sixth was to do nothing at all (which is unlikely)



Based upon Brad Mitzelfelts letter to Dianne Feinsteins office, we have drafted a new more specific petition that outlines an option that would de-designate a portion of wilderness area that is acceptable to the

Marines. The wilderness area in question is not considered quality wilderness area, AND has already been used for military training in the past.



We need the public's support for the Marines to even CONSIDER this option.



It is imperative that you read and sign, including your email and mailing addresses. Upon the end of the comment period, this petition will be submitted initially to the Marines, and then we will forward the

signatures and addresses to each local legislator.

Hey guys and Gals,

This is a completely new petition, we re-worded it to fit
new information that was not there when Tammi originally
wrote it. Please take a minute to go back and sign it again

We did not feel it would be appropriate (Or legal for that matter) to
to just change the wording and submit it to the appropriate party

There are over 3500 signed on the first go around, and the Marines were impressed

Its very important and carries the weight of a written comment,
even if you have already have submitted a comment and/or signed this previously

If a page pops up asking for a donation, Ignore it, its a software issue with the
free petition site, we are still asking for donations to go to Partnership

Is it possible the actual number of e-mails and letters they received is actually higher than being reported by them?

"One very important key element discussed was the volume of scoping comments that have been received so far by the Marines. As of today, just under 900 Emails and about 500 hard comment letters have been received. This number of comment letters to the military is disappointingly low."
