Any details on TV coverage for this years race?
NBC Sports network 1/2-hour recaps I believe... Just like last year on the former Versus network...
What I found worked is, know when Eurosport is showing live coverage, and then just Google "Eurosport live stream", or something to that affect, and you've eventually stumble on a live stream showing the rally. That's what I did at work during last year's rally.
Its a shame that the NBC Sports coverage does not come out until a day later, and its the same Dakar feed that EuroSport uses that most of us will see hours after the end of the stage. The only difference is the voice-over changes.
Eurosport also does a great hour of live coverage during the stages. I found it pretty good to watch. I'm not sure if thats also an ASO feed? South American also has various bits of daily live and taped coverage that is seperate from the ASO, but generally not in english.
I end up with the NBC/Versus show on my DVR, but I found I wasn't really watching it anymore. If you are able to spend some time here, you will get more and better information sooner than they have on TV. As mentioned, someone will post up links to the ASO Dakar feed and a number of other videos and text sources as soon as they come up. Plus, we get lots of info from people with sources at the race as well as expert commentary from people that have actually raced or have other direct involvement. The official Dakar tracking system actually works pretty well as well once you figure out how it works.
My god, NBC/Versus coverage SUCKS. I hope they have the intelligence to leave out the double D travel agent and fill it with more race info.....
Anybody that runs across a good coverage link will post it here on RDC. Its our freakin duty. Just do it.
Us worker bees are risking it all to veiw it.
One problem from last year was that the Eurosport feed from eurosport.com was blocking IPs from outside Europe, requiring proxies, but they tend to make the video jerky.
You can also get them on youtube, but the ASO was extremely agressive in getting them all pulled, somethings within minutes. So you would see sites making the videos "unlisted", only availible from secret links on various websites. ie planetrobby, etc.
Cool, but doesnt work on a Mac. Tks
works on my macbook pro and mac mini.
that's pretty cool. Will someone post up the schedule once available?
NBC Sports finally has the listings:
First show, January 6, 2013, from 2:00 to 3:00 a.m.
After that, the shows are only a 1/2 hour starting at 2:00 or 2:30 a.m.
NBC Sports Network TV Listings, TV Shows and Schedule - Zap2it
Time to set that DVR/Tivo
What plug-in are you using?
Wow, AM? Seriously? Way to go NBC.
I was able to find it on fios last night. DVR set...
I set my DVR last night. It is actually airing at 11:30 Pacific Time on January 5th. The 2:30 am starts apparently are for the East Coast.
In past years, Robby Gordon has gotten some good TV time, Brad and Brad might even get some TV time, if you dont blink
This Show/Site has some good coverage. Very similar or better than Eurosport.
Every day they have 2 shows. One Live & one on Line or a review of the day.
It is from Spain (RTVE Espana). So, it is entirely in Spanish. There are some Interviews in English with Robby, Nasser, & other English speaking drivers
Each program is 1 Hour long.
They have their own live coverage On Course & in the Pits, along with Dakar TV cameras & Heli footage.
It starts with Bikes/Quads, then Cars at about min 35, then the Trucks.
The Videos are up from my previous post.
Cars start at about Minute 31. There's some good Robby footage. They also show how the course is made.
