Fellow Baja Racers and enthusiasts NOW IS THE TIME to come to the aid of our brothers and sisters who desperately need our help after the devastating Category 3 Hurricane Odile pounded the Peninsula last Sunday.

Tavo Vildosola, along with Cameron Steele, Tim Sanchez, Ryan Thomas, Oscar Ramos and many others are putting together a plan, in conjunction with the Mexican Red Cross, that will allow for the distribution of much needed supplies to the hardest hit regions in Baja.

Vildosola’s Mexicali based Mexicana Logistics has committed to utilizing a portion of his fleet of semi trucks to transport relief items to a centrally located staging location on the peninsula as early as this Friday afternoon. Oscar Ramos has arranged for police/military escorts for our caravans.

Plans for how and where relief items will be distributed from the staging location are still being formulated and current road conditions will dictate some of this. However, an elite group of experienced racers/chasers with capable vehicles will be used to help move relief items from the staging location to remote/difficult to reach locations throughout the affected areas on the peninsula.

Your donation of any of the following items will be greatly appreciated and responsibly distributed to those in need.
    Please remember any quantity helps.

Just returned from an aid mission.
There are pockets of damage that defy description.
I was busy, so I couldn't take a bunch of photos.
Suffice to say, they need all the help they can get.

Some of us are on the east coast, so delivery to drop off points are an issue. I know can donate through broader recovery efforts but would love to contribute to something through the racing community. Ideas?

I wrote the following email to my friends and family and sent it out. Whether or not the people of Mexico are resilient and will bounce back, it still hurts to suffer and I believe in doing what you can to help those in need.

I'm not gonna dump ice water on my head, but I would like you all to consider how fortunate we all are compared to many down south, and to also consider modifying my email as needed to send out on your own. I only takes a few minutes of your time and could possibly make a difference.

If I can be of any assistance in helping make things happen with you and/or your friends or family, please PM me for my contact info...

Below is the message I sent:

    To Whom It May Concern,

If you were not already aware, Hurricane Odile (Category 4, the real deal) made a direct hit on the Baja Peninsula in the last week. Some areas are utterly devastated. I am writing you this email to ask you to consider helping those in need down south. If you are not in a position to donate, please consider passing this email along to others who might be able to.

A well respected Mexican/American family has offered the services of their warehouse and trucking company to collect and distribute aid down into Mexico. It is my belief that they are honorable people and any efforts you choose to make will not be mis-distributed.

I will commit to donating some of the following goods we have around the house as well as a $200 Target mission for supplies.

In addition, I will drive wherever necessary in North County at least two afternoons or mornings over the next week to collect any of these items that can't be delivered to my house. I will also drive down from my house in Oside to South County twice over the next week to pick up any items any of my friends in Point Loma or South County may have.

The following items have been listed as needed:

——— PLEASE NO MEAT, VEGETABLES OR FRUITS ———

    • Canned food/goods of any kind
    • Bottled water
    • Diapers
    • Bleach
    • Cleaning supplies
    • Buckets
    • Brooms
    • Towels / blankets

    USA DONATIONS
Ship or deliver from 8am-5pm to:
    Mexicana Logistics US HQ
    7734 Formula Place
    San Diego, CA 92121

Thank you so much for considering my request! Again, if this is not something you are able to do I ask that you please consider passing along my email with my contact info to anyone who might be able to help.

    Ben

That's a great idea. The Race-Dezert/UTVUnderground booth can be the spot. I will figure out the details and post something on our social media feeds.

There is no deadline for drop offs and if you aren't close then go to Costco web site and buy what you want to give and have it drop shipped to the Mexicana Logistics location

Distant donations... Go on line with Costco or other big box store and buy what you want to give and have Costco drop ship it to....
