I wear Redwings 8 hours a day. They're comfy for me and I have a tool belt around me that weighs 10-15 pounds at times. Just get fitted up properly.

I have had both Red Wings and Wolverines and I like the Wolverines much better. But you need to make sure you get the Dura-Shock work boot. Not only have I liked them better, but the customer service at Wolverine is top notch. I had a pair of Wolverine Dura Shocks that were going on 3 years old. I started to notice the blue part of the Dura shock soul started to become gooey soft and chunks were peeling off the shoe. I called Worlverine and explained what was happening. I was hoping for some sort of discount voucher or something. They then e-mailed me a form to fill out and told me to mail my shoes to them. Less then 2 weeks later I got a call from Wolverine and they told me they were mailing me a new pair of shoes, and asked if I wanted the same color or a different color then what I had. A few days later and new pair of shoes were on my doorstep. Almost 3 year old shoes and they warranted them. Besides being comfortable their service has sold me on being a long time customer.

I have pretty high arches in my feet.. as much as I like skate shoes, the flat souls suck. Most comfy pair of shoes I've had are also the ugliest lol. Asics Gel.

    Try Weinbrenner/Thorogood.
I have a narrow foot and a high instep.
I wore Doc Martins for years. Great boot.
When they started making them in China, I started having an odor problem.
Same fit and quality, Just couldn't put up with the smell.
Tried Redwing, Wolverine, Carhart, Timberland, pretty much everything.
My kid works at a work clothes store so I have access to most everything.
Just could not find anything that worked right.
So, I asked my Mailman, on his feet ALL day (and he's a Reservist)
He swears by these things, so I tried them.
Damned if they aren't most comfortable boot I have ever worn.
Nearly a year on my first set, worn every day at work. Commercial roof sales.
Great tread wear, no signs of fatigue and no insole breakdown.

I wear the Sport Hiker but they have a great variety of styles.
They're USA made and fairly inexpensive.
Check them out. Been a great find for me.

Dr. Scholl's gel insole inserts. I'm in work boots 12+ hours a day climbing stairs, standing on steel decks. I wear red wings, for now, but no matter what boot I've owned, I always put the inserts in. What a world of difference it makes.

DO NOT get caterpillar boots, I would say they have to be the worst boots ever made, I wore them for 12hour+ shifts and after being laid off back in November I just recently got the feeling back in my feet.
