Decided to go ahead and make a build thread..

Rodd Fantelli (Fantelli Motorsports) picked the truck up Friday from a friend of his for the NORRA Vintage race..Since Rodd made his name with a Datsun we thought it was only right to go with a Datsun!

We are super stoked..Especially myself and my b/f since we'll be apart of the "new" old skool Datsun..

Again we picked her up Friday..The truck got stripped/cut Saturday and should start getting caged Sunday..

I dont have any shots of when we brought her home, but she was complete minus a motor..

Shots below are after stripping/cutting away of course:

1980 Datsun's looks a lot different, but they both are little trucks. I got a 69 datsun just sitting at a friend house waiting for me to get it to make a new truck out of it

    To answer a few questions:

'What motor will the truck run?' -
The motor is a 1800 4cyl I believe being offered by a freind..

    'Stock or fiberglass or?' -
Stock fenders, just cut a bit to fit 32"s under

Im stoked on this truck as well as it'll be a second DD for me..

I really should, already has an 1800cc engine in it, header, and dual sidedraft carbs on it. But it blew a head gasket a year ago so it'll need some work now. Might hav eto start tinkering on it when I get some free time.

run the ka24 single cam motor, good torque and you can rev the hell out of them, nissan performance makes a intake to run dual miks or webers, motors came in 90s trucks ,can find jeep in junkyard.my friend put one in his baja with dualcarbs worked awsom..sr20s are good motors but no torque ,good luck!!!keep it up!!!

Will those pass NORRA scrutiny/tech? I thought engineering only up to 1989 was allowed except for safety gear?

the motor going in is a freebie from a friend, so thats the motor thats going in it..this is def. a budget build..we're not looking for speed really..he just wants to build the truck and take it out and just cruise :)..

the cage has been started, just havent gotten photos yet..

    they were 31"s..

we now have 6 brand new Mickey Thompson ATZ 31"s on the Datsun now..

shocks I believe will be Bilsteins..

we have a lot of stuff off the old Datsun to help make this project move faster, which is nice..
