San Felipe was proud with Verdugo’s overall victory with a time of 3 hours, 46 minutes, 23 seconds, beating Oswaldo Moncada on a personal duel.

A total of 115 racers from Mexico and USA took part on the season opener at Ejido Heroes de la Independencia.

Victory in the 4 wheel vehicles belonged to Alejandro Mendez that raced a Class 10 car.  He did not have any issues with his Jimco racer and stopped the clock in 3 hours, 52 minutes and 21 seconds.

Mendez started strong from the beginning and he was able to maintain the lead all the way to the checkered flag.

Miguel Montoya and the Peninsulares team took their second race in a row with Record following last December’s victory at the Race Ready 250 and setting themselves in a good position to go for their second Class 8 championship in two years.

Miguel Sandoval has not won a 7SX race with Record since June 2009, this was a thing of the past in March 24th when he lead the tough competition trough a very demanding race course.  Even beating the 2011 champion Daniel Uriarte and the SCORE San Felipe 250 winner Elias Hanna.

With this victory he is in full force to go for the Class championship.  With only a 4 race season he will try to reclaim the crown that was his in 2008.

Javier Manzo from Tijuana gave Speed Energy a victory in Class 7.  He had 8 very tough rivals and he will also make a run for the Class championship.

Class 11 gathered 17 competitors and they had an epic battle along the four 42 mile laps.  This odyssey was taken by Esteban Ruiz over Ernesto Martinez and Ramon Fernandez, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Record’s next race will be the summer edition of the Ensenada-San Felipe 250 that will take place on June 22-24 and will probably start once again from within City limits.
