Baja 50th Anniversary “Warm Up Celebration”

50 years ago Bill Robertson Jr. and Dave Ekins rode two Honda Scramblers from Tijuana to La Paz in a timed promotion to prove the durability of these new bikes.  This adventure ride spawned into one of the most epic off road events of all time known as the Baja 1000.

The Baja 50th Anniversary “Warm Up Celebration” was held on Saturday, August 4th in Mission Viejo, CA.  The event showcased some of the motorcycles from the early years of the Baja 1000 up to current Baja winning machines.  Many of the current and past Baja Champions were on hand to share their stories and sign autographs.

thanks for the coverage, great photos. The best thing was the face time with the people. And oh yes the charity (YUGO) is the real winner. ck

Don’t forget, there was even a world motocross champion in attendance. Roger DeCoster showed up to sign autographs with Johnny Campbell, Dave Ekins, Tom White and others. If you missed it, too bad. Maybe this will become a yearly event and you’ll get another chance. Good luck!
