Vanden Heuvel Sr. Brings New Maxxis Tire to Bark River

Appleton, WI (July 13, 2010) – The Flying Dutchman TORC PRO-2 Off-Road race team was pumped up to get to Bark River International Off-Road Raceway as the latest off-road tire from Maxxis was waiting to be mounted on the #77 Maxxis Tire Chevrolet. In the past, the Maxxis tires have always worked well with Dan Vanden Heuvel’s driving style, and after the Maxxis Tire Research and Development team consulted with the team throughout the 2009 TORC season, Maxxis designed a completely new tire, the Maxxis RAZR.

“This is awesome, our Maxxis tires worked great last year, but just like any other motorsports, the competition is always looking to build a better mousetrap,” noted Dan Vanden Heuvel.  “It’s incredible that Maxxis continues to improve its already great off-road motorsports program.”

After two solid practice sessions with the new Maxxis RAZR tires, Dan was ready to attack the competition. Saturday’s Round 3 saw the red #77 Chevy get involved in several incidents attempting to pass slower trucks. During one of those times, contact from another truck cut a tire. Somehow the tire stayed on the wheel keeping the #77 Chevy in the race. Ignoring possible disaster, the Flying Dutchman pressed on finishing the round in fifth place.

“These new Maxxis RAZR tire are awesome,” exclaimed Dan Vanden Heuvel. “When contact from another competitor cut my tire, I first thought our race was done, but my crew made the right call and kept me on the track. Great job guys.”

Sunday’s Round 4 started with the #77 Maxxis Tire Chevrolet grabbing the holeshot. Quickly Dan realized something in the rear suspension wasn’t quite right. The back end of the truck was riding low, regardless there wasn’t much anyone could do during the fifteen minute race. The Flying Dutchman soldiered on during the nine lap event finishing in seventh place.

“Regardless of today’s outcome, I can’t wait to get these Maxxis Tires on the Oshkosh short track,” remarked Dan Vanden Heuvel. “I believe this RAZR tire has just the right compound to tackle the blue groove that typically happens on the clay circle tracks.”
