Duel in the Desert: Ford SVT Raptor vs. Mopar Ram Runner

Ford Raptor SVT vs. Mopar Ram Runner

It’s the match up we’ve all been waiting for.   PickupTrucks.com gathered two decorated off-road vehicles – the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and the Ram Runner by Mopar — to compete a head to head competition.  Off-road racer and professional driver, Chad Ragland, put the two vehicles to the test on a five-mile course put together by Mad Media in Southern California’s Ocotillo Wells.  The course consisted most types of off road terrain from sand to rock to whoops to hills.   We’ll let you crown a champion as you watch this head to head comparison of the Ford Raptor and Mopar Ram Runner.

The winner of their 2012 Duel in the Desert goes to the Mopar-built Ram Runner. In this bout, aftermarket beats factory. A complete analysis of the competition can be seen here:

Ha! I knew it! Not hard to figure that out

    • big iron jake says:

that dodge is way too heavy. look closer at the front bottom out in the video. there is no proper weight distribution of the engine. it takes a lot money to make a dodge live up to the standards.

  2. Brian says:

A semi built dodge versus a stock raptor! How is that far? Do the same upgrades to the ford than run the test again……….

  3. randy says:

waste of time, you might as well get a race truck to go up against the dodge after market parts truck.same difference.

  4. Johnny says:

The semi built Dodge and the stock raptor are at about the same price point. That’s how it’s fair.

    • Joe says:

Not quite, pickuptrucks.com lists the total price of the Raptor @ $50,670 and the Ram Runner @ about $68,000.

  5. Jimmy says:

OK, a street legal factory truck vs.a non CA street legal modified truck…. Also, the total build cost of the Ram is higher. Considering these factors Its not hard to see which would win in the beginning. Being a Ford fan I still new the dodge would win.

  6. sniffy beaver says:

watching the 2 trucks run through the woops… Dodge has my vote!

  7. Dave says:

What kind of idiot would finance a $50K-$60K PLUS truck for 60-72 months and then go thrash it in the desert? Sorry, both trucks are designed for suckers who love to pay big repair bills. The winners are Ford AND Dodge, for making it easy to sell replacement parts. The loser is the chump who beats on his truck and then has to fix it. Warranty voided by abusing the vehicle, of course. PT Barnum was right; there is a sucker born every minute.
