Wilmette, IL. When the 2009 Traxxas TORC series presented by AMSOIL Tour visited Bark River for Rounds 7 & 8, Steve Federico looked to have one of the faster PRO-Light race trucks on the track. Unfortunately luck was not on his side, as a flat tire in Round 7, and an engine failure in Round 8, prevented his results from matching his performance. This time around Federico Racing put long time veteran, Mark Kreuger behind the wheel of the #24 Invisible Glass P.F. Changs Lost Dunes Country Club Toyota Tacoma to battle the best PRO-Light drivers in the country.
Thanks to the USAC style starting grid inversion, based upon point totals, Krueger had the #24 Invisible Glass Toyota starting from the front row. When Round 9 was underway, the orange and black Toyota grabbed the lead. This race was as much as practice session as it was a competition. Krueger was still learning the characteristics of the Greaves-built chassis as he went into green flag racing.

The #24 Toyota was consistently in fifth place when the engine began to sound flat. With only two laps to go, Mark Kreuger hung on to finish in sixth place.

Overnight, the crew realized the engine was done for the weekend, and everyone went to work executing an engine change. About one hour before Sunday?s race, the #24 Invisible Glass P.F. Changs Lost Dunes Country Club Toyota Tacoma was back together and ready to run.

The start for Round 10 was very similar to the day before, but this time Krueger was able to use the mandatory caution lap to his advantage. When the field bunched up during the yellow caution lap he was able to keep the leader in his sights. When a truck had an altercation that led to a mechanical problem, the Invisible Glass P.F. Changs Toyota was there to capitalize on the situation. When the checkered flag flew, Mark Krueger and the #24 Tacoma finished on the podium, in third place.

I really wasn’t expecting this kind of result, noted Mark Krueger. I had very little time in this truck, but AJ, Chris, and Kyle really worked hard getting me as comfortable and familiar with Steve’s truck. All the work paid off.  Yesterday, I hurt the motor, and Steve wasn’t real happy, but he had the guys put the backup motor in and as I said before, all the hard work this weekend paid off. I glad to be up here, thanks again to Steve for the opportunity and everyone back at the hauler that put in 110% all weekend long.

After eight rounds of racing in the 2009 TORC PRO-Light Championship, Federico Racing is currently in sixth place in the eighteen-truck field.

You can watch all the Round 10 action, this Sunday, August 16, 11:30am eastern, on ESPN2.

Next Race: September 11-13, Crandon, WI
