Jamie Galles wins class 7200 at the HDRA, Rockin on the River race in Laughlin, Nevada. Galles and truck builder Brenthel Industries just completed several revisions to the truck prior to the race. “We have been working with CBM motorsports on our 3.6 liter Chevrolet, Direct Injection V6 motor which is lightweight and delivers loads of horsepower,” says Jordan Brenthel, the truck builder, “With the Chevy motor we are much lighter than most of our competitors. We also changed the body to one of our own designs.”
The crew won a race just getting to the starting line of the two-day event in Laughlin. While Jamie tried to get some rest the night before the race, his crew worked feverishly to finish the truck. The crew arrived at 2:00 a.m. only to be back up and in line for tech & staging at 6:00. They ran heat 1, the sportsman race to shake down the truck. The truck performed nicely, taking second place in the heat. The team then went over the truck in preparation for their 7200 class heat race at 1:15p.m.
Jamie started at the back of the pack in heat 3. The truck was running great and he started picking off spots as the laps went by. At the finish, he had passed over half of the field working his way from seventh place up to third, three minutes behind the leader. At last, the crew could get some well-deserved rest before the final race on Sunday.
Sunday’s race would see the top three finishers inverted putting Jamie out front at the start. With clean air in front and the truck working flawlessly, Jamie showed what the truck is capable of achieving. He clicked off six, 18-minute laps in a row averaging 54.5 miles per hour to finish first, taking the overall class win for the event. “We had a great weekend, Said Jamie Galles, “to win our third time out in a new truck says a lot about the quality of work and the level of design Brenthel Industries are capable of. My crew worked so hard this weekend. I went to bed Friday night knowing they would be there and the truck would be perfect.”
The Galles team will now have some time in the off-season to go over the truck properly. With some additional testing and tuning, they can only improve on the speed and handling of their Brenthel Engineered 7200 truck. 7200 is an exciting class that is challenging designers and builders to create unique new trucks for the class. Brenthel Industries has several chassis designs that have been proven ultra-competitive right out of the box. Look for three new Brenthel 7200 trucks to debut at The Best in the Desert, Parker 425 in February.
