This weekend marks Jesse Jones’ return to short course offroad racing, jumping behind the wheel of the brand new FOX Pro-2. Jones will be debuting the new truck at “The Big House”, Crandon International Raceway, for TORC Series rounds 14 & 15 as well as competing in the AMSOIL Cup where the Pro-2 and Pro-4 go head to head for $40,000, winner takes all.
“Going short course racing was never apart of the plan for 2013”, Jones said with a smile, “but when my Trophy Truck teammate Bryce Menzies mentioned he was building a new truck, I said I wanted one too. The decision was made right then and there.”
Behind the build would be the mastermind of Ricky Johnson’s 2011 & 2012 Traxxas TORC Series Championship winning Pro-4, Mike Krahling. The truck was built from the ground up in the Las Vegas shop of Menzies Motorsports and with over a year of development and planning, the truck finally hit dirt just a few weeks ago for multiple photo shoots and test sessions.
“The amount of brand exposure that we have received from the Trophy Truck program has exceeded all expectations. Now with a Pro-2 in the arsenal, and the national exposure that comes with it, we are excited to see what the future holds.” Commented FOX Offroad Division Marketing Manger, Brian Godfrey.
The truck will also be featured in an upcoming issue of DirtSports Magazine, Masterpiece In Metal, highlighting the hand-crafted artistry and the impressive specs behind the 900-horsepower monster. Jones will also have continued support from his other Trophy Truck desert program partners with
Impact by Mastercraft Saftey, BFGoodrich Tires, and KMC Wheels all on board.
“We are looking forward to the return of the #76 truck to short course racing.” stated BFGoodrich Tires Off-Road Racing Program Manager, Nate Hunt. “Jones is dialed behind the wheel of a Trophy Truck, and we know his talent and focus will carry right into the new Pro-2.”
The Crandon International Raceway festivities kick off this Friday as the race trucks parade through downtown Crandon, WI. The raceway is known for its rich history and high-speed land rush starts into turn 1 where over 40,000 fans are on their feet to cheer on their favorite driver. “I’m just a little nervous. I’ve never raced Crandon before and to have it as my first race back to short course is going to be an interesting outcome.” -Jesse Jones.
