In preparation for the 2013 General Tire Mint 400 Presented by Polaris, Mad Media has put together Heroes and Legends of The Mint 400, a series of clips taken from their 2010, 2011, and 2012 Mint 400 television shows. Some of the best modern off-road racers will race the legendary Mint 400 on March 23rd. Here are the first 5 clips featuring TJ Flores, Rick D. Johnson, Jason and Rich Voss, “Ballistic” BJ Baldwin and Harley Letner, explaining how they got in to racing and stay competitive in the ever evolving sport of off-road racing.
TJ came up through the ranks of off-road racing by working at Butch’s Speed Shop. Which has been a fixture in off-road racing for over 40 years! Countless racecars have been built prepped and welded back together here. It was here at the age of 21 where TJ Flores began learning the coveted art of building, prepping and fixing off-road racecars under the watchful eye of Butch Dean.
Rick D. Johnson
Rick D Johnson is a true veteran of off-road racing. He has competed in hundreds of races in the past decade, and won many of them. His method for success has been perfecting his vehicle by personally building and maintaining a great deal of it, while benefiting greatly from a seasoned and professional crew, many of whom are volunteers.
Jason and Rich Voss
Spending Time together as a family is a common thread in the off-road racing, and the Voss family is no exception. The father and son team of Rich and Jason Voss have been steadily moving up the ranks of off-road racing after competing for more than a decade on bikes.
“Ballistic” BJ Baldwin
For “Ballistic” BJ Baldwin, off-road racing is not only his passion; it’s a full time job.
Racing is in the DNA of the Letner family. It goes back four generations to the early days of NASCAR.
