| Extra: | This project would not have been restored for the NORRA Mexican 1000 in 90 days without the dedication and late night hours from Matt “Shrek” Dowland, Prep by Shrek, Ed “Hollywood” Dowland, and many great friends. I need to Thank my wife Brenda for her passion of off road racing and allowing me to tackle a project like this.. We would like to thank great product companies like General Tire, Azunia Tequila, MasterCraft Safety,Cap’s Auto Body,Dales Speed & Marine,Drive Graphics,Fox Racing Shoxs,Culhane Transmissions, PCI Race Radios, K&N Filters ,KC HiLites,High Desert Driveline,Hostyle, Kings Kustom Stripping, BAJA Spirits L.L.C., Kreed Polarized Sunglasses,The Snortin Nortins Nova was the passion of Mick Newton and his son’s Mickey & Jesse out of Parker, Az.The family silk-screening business provided many race shirts throughout the years at the race events. Along with many other Parker residents, the Nova was always prepared to be a fierce class 6 contender . The Nova raced some of the toughest races in the early to mid 80′s, like the Parker 400, Mint 400, Baja 1000 and many others. The car was sold to a family friend and was taken to Louisiana shortly before Mick Newton’s passing, where it was raced a few times in local events. We rescued the car after being retired from racing as it sat rusting from the weather of the Southern Bayou. With the help of my good friend Jim “Rooster” Riley we intend to trace the roots of the pioneers who blazed a trail down the Baja peninsula in the late 60′s. We look forward to finishing the NORRA Mexican 1000 in the SNORTIN NORTIN NOVA |

The Snortin Nortins Nova has a ton of history. It was fun restoring and even funny driving it down the Baja pennisula. That Nova turned many heads and brought back a lot of memories. I admire Mick Newton, his friends and family who were involved in this classic car for so many years. I am glad that we were able to restore and race it once again.
Viva Baja

You have no idea how excited I was when I heard the Snortin Nortins car was alive and kickin’! I worked many years for the Newtons and considered myself a part of their family. Traveling to races and making and selling all those t-shirts…wow! I was actually overwhelmed when I saw the photos of the yellow beast and am extremely grateful Rick has resurrected her. Thanks for keeping those memories alive!
i was friends with Jesse&mickey when we were kids,i remember my grandparents had a 71 4door and my grand father wrecked it and gave what was left of there nova to the newtons. so ya see this race car back in action brings back a lot of child hood memories. good job guys and good luck.
I like that my drawings made it in here. I love it. Thank you guys
Hi Rick This the first time that I have seen the Snortin Nortin Chevy since Mick Past away, Mick and I tore an old chevy (green) Nova apart piece by piece, only to see it come together as a real tough machine, with help of course from Mick’s great friends, (Larry-Jim-Frank). I had the upmost pleasure of being one of the co-drivers of this beautiful machine. I want to say thank you so much for the great memories and you have done a great job bring her back. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
