In anticipation of the 2012 King of the Hammers taking place Friday, Feb. 10 in Johnson Valley, Calif., BFGoodrich Tires has created a contingency program to benefit those who choose to run on BFGoodrich Tires.  A $7,500 contingency payout will be awarded to the winner of the race if running BFGoodrich tires.

Following are the requirements in order to be eligible for the $7,500 payout:

• Must register at contingency listing BFGoodrich tires
• Must have 24″ BFGoodrich decals visible on both sides of vehicle and on front of vehicle
• Must start/finish with BFGoodrich tires on all 4 points of vehicle

ENSENADA, MEXICO (Nov. 20, 2011) – BFGoodrich^® Tires, the official tire of the SCORE Desert Racing Series, won its 25th overall SCORE Baja 1000 title, with Team BFGoodrich member Andy McMillin and his father Scott McMillin taking turns at the wheel. The McMillins finished the race in 14 hours and 51 minutes, averaging 47.12 miles per hour throughout the course. Their victory on BFGoodrich Baja T/A^® KR tires marks BFGoodrich Tires’ 25th win in the last 26 years. BFGoodrich Tires also claimed eight of the top 10 overall spots.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better finish to the 2011 SCORE Baja 1000 or a better weekend overall,” said Silvia Mammone, motorsports marketing manager, BFGoodrich Tires. “We are thrilled with the McMillins’ overall win, Bryce Menzies’ SCORE Trophy Truck championship and Nick Vanderwey’s second place podium finish, running for the first time on the 42-inch BFGoodrich Baja T/A tires. Congratulations to the drivers who finished what looked to be one of the toughest Baja races in history.  We are not only celebrating their individual accomplishments but also the 25th win for BFGoodrich Tires.”

The finish to the 44th Annual SCORE Baja 1000 was one of the closest in recent memory. Throughout the last 300 miles, Andy McMillin (#31 Ford Raptor), Nick Vanderwey (#84 Chevy Silverado) and Bryce Menzies (#70 Ford F-150) were trading places and rubbing bumpers. Vanderwey was first to the finish line, but McMillin came in less than two minutes behind and earned the victory with the corrected times. Menzies was third to the finish line, two minutes behind McMillin.

“That was the most intense race I’ve ever been a part of. I was 30 seconds to them, and Bryce was 30 seconds to me on the beach. It was a freight-train free-for-all. It was such a blast. It was so much fun. I’m glad to win my second Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 with my dad. It means a lot,” said Team BFGoodrich member Andy McMillin.
Vanderwey was the only truck in the race to run on the 42-inch BFGoodrich Baja T/A^KR tires. Moments after Scott McMillin thanked BFGoodrich Tires at the post-race press conference, Vanderwey said, “Well, I had the awesomest tires — I had the 42-inch BFGs on 20-inch TrailReady wheels. What a race — holy moly! It was intense racing.  We just hit so many rocks.  It was unbelievable what these tires will take.”

Bryce Menzies earned the SCORE Trophy Truck championship with his third place finish, capping off an incredible year for the SCORE rookie. Menzies started strong with a win in January at the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge and won his first ever SCORE Baja 500 in June.

Don Moss and his Class 3 team, other winners running on BFGoodrich tires, marked their 36th SCORE race win, third race win this season and eighth Class 3 win in this race. For Dan Chamlee, this race also marked his fifth Class 7 victory in this race and third race win in his class this season. Finishing a career-best fifth overall and in SCORE Trophy Truck, Clyde Stacy and Juan Carlos Lopez (#18 RPM Off-Road Chevy Silverado) finished in 15:40:38.

The Team BFGoodrich Wide Open Excursions race buggy piloted by Joel Weinberger, Super Touring U (STU)-class Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) National Runoffs champion; Brad and Roger Lovell, six-time rock-crawling champions; Andrew Comrie-Picard, X Games SuperRally bronze medalist and 2009 North American rally champion; Kyle Tucker, custom car designer; and Bud Brutsman, Hollywood producer, faced an epic battle throughout the race. After mechanical problems at RM 168, the team was able to make a comeback thanks to an amazing chase crew and finish sixth in Class 10.

A Family Race – Six Members of the McMillin Family Ran Baja This Year on BFGoodrich Tires

This year’s race also capped off the most spectacular SCORE race in the McMillin family’s 36-year history of SCORE desert racing.  Mark’s youngest son Luke McMillin, with driving assistance from Justin Smith, won Class 1/2-1600 for the second time this season and the first time in this race to secure the season point championship in his class for the second straight year in an AlumiCraft-VW. Scott McMillin’s daughter, Jessica McMillin, 26, (#1331 McMillin Realty Ford F-150) overcame an early rollover near Ojos Negros to finish the season undefeated with five wins with her victory Saturday in the Pro Truck class. She was the only SCORE racer this season to win her class in all five SCORE Desert Series races. Jessica, Andy, Daniel and Luke McMillin are all third-generation SCORE desert racers, continuing the lasting legacy left by family patriarch Corky McMillin, who passed away in 2006. Jessica McMillin also earned the SCORE Pro Truck class championship for the season.
An Unexpected Delay

The start of the 44th Annual SCORE Baja 1000 was delayed about an hour due to a semi-truck that broke down on the race course at race mile four. By the time the semi truck was spotted, 13 Trophy Trucks had already left the start line. Once the semi-truck was moved from the race course, the remaining Trophy Trucks were paraded out to race mile four and restarted. The finishing percentage this year was a strong 55.76 percent considering the intense degree of difficulty of the bone-crushingly rocky terrain and the unique ruggedness of the course.

A Win at the Legendary Desert Race Would Mark the

25th Overall Four-Wheel Title for BFGoodrich Tires

ENSENADA, MEXICO (Nov. 15, 2011) — BFGoodrich^® Tires continued to prove its toughness in the desert in 2011 by winning the overall four-wheel title in each of the four SCORE International off-road races to date. BFGoodrich Tires will be vying to make it five for five with a victory at the 44th Annual SCORE Baja 1000, which starts and finishes in Ensenada, Mexico, on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011. A BFGoodrich Tires victory would mark its 25th title in 26 years, including a stretch of 20 consecutive wins.

Team BFGoodrich members Rob MacCachren and Bryce Menzies split the four previous overall victories, both on BFGoodrich^® Baja T/A^®KR tires. MacCachren dominated the MasterCraft Safety Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 and SCORE San Felipe Challenge of Champions.  Menzies had a breakout year with victories in the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge and SCORE Baja 500.

From Rally Racers and Rock Crawlers to SCCA and Autocross Champions, 6 BFGoodrich® Tires Drivers Join Forces in “Baja Challenge” Race Buggy

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Oct. 5, 2011) — BFGoodrich® Tires announced today the six men who will make up the 2011 BFGoodrich Tires/Wide Open Excursions “Baja Challenge” (BC) team that will compete in the 44th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 Nov. 17-20. The six drivers earned their spots in the BC race buggy through different channels — one garnered a contingency prize by placing first in the STU class at the 2011 SCCA National Runoffs, and the remaining five earned spots through Team BFGoodrich’s “Select the Seats” campaign.

The Team BFGoodrich members Andrew Comrie-Picard, Brad Lovell, Bud Brutsman, Kyle Tucker and Roger Lovell bring years of racing to the mix. Joel Weinberger, who is the most recent addition to the team, won the Super Touring U (STU) class at the 48th SCCA Runoffs at Road America earlier this year. He won the 13-lap, 52-mile race by 6.026 seconds and earned the Hawk Fastest Race Lap with a record 2:27.859 (97.390 miles per hour). Weinberger will trade in the BFGoodrich® g-Force™ R1™ tires he used at the Runoffs for BFGoodrich® Mud Terrain T/A® KM2 tires in Baja, as he looks to continue his on-road successes in the dirt.

“Winning my class at the Runoffs was a special moment for me,” said Weinberger. “I was able to celebrate the win with my father, a 50-year SCCA member. He is responsible for getting me into racing. Joining BFGoodrich’s Baja Challenge team was the icing on the cake. I can’t wait to get to Baja and pre-run with my teammates and see if we can pull out a victory.”

Looking to improve on the team’s second-place finish in 2010, Brutsman, a Hollywood producer of documentaries including “Chasing Baja” and “Born in Baja,” and Tucker, owner of Detroit Speed Engineering, will share their experiences from 2010 with the other four drivers who are joining the team for the first time. Brad and Roger Lovell add an incredible amount of off-road racing knowledge after winning six rock-crawling season championships over the years, as well as four national championships and five Traxxas TORC podiums in 2011. Comrie-Picard also knows a thing or two about driving in the dirt, and he has the hardware to prove it. In addition to his 2010 X Games SuperRally bronze medal, Comrie-Picard also has a 2009 North American Rally championship under his belt.

Located in Clark, Wyo., Morrison Trail was honored this past weekend by BFGoodrich® Tires as one of the 2011 Outstanding Trails. Off-road enthusiasts and members of the Magic City 4-Wheelers, Inc. were in attendance as BFGoodrich Tires presented a grant of $4,000 to the club. The grant will be used to preserve the scenic off-highway trail system and continue conservation efforts for one of America’s most beautiful areas for off-roading.

Morrison Trail, in Wyoming’s Shoshone National Forest, offers various types of terrain including arid canyons, alpine forests, high mountain meadows and small lakes at 10,000 feet. Hitting the trail shortly after it opens in mid-July is a gift as off-road enthusiasts will have the pleasure of experiencing a carpet of beautiful wildflowers in the meadows. About the Outstanding Trails Program

The BFGoodrich® Tires Outstanding Trails program was established in 2006 to raise awareness for responsible use and preservation of off-road trails while providing aid in the trails’ conservation efforts.  Through 2010, the Outstanding Trails program has recognized 24 off-road trails and 24 clubs across 16 states and two in Canada. The program has provided more than $90,000 in grants in support of the various trails conservation efforts.

On Sunday, July 26, 2011,  Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins needed only six minutes and 11.54 seconds to finish the famed Mt. Washington Hillclimb — nearly 30 seconds faster than Frank Sprongl’s previous record from 1998.  Higgins also beat the unofficial record of 6:20.47 set by Travis Pastrana last year.  Higgins did it sans co-driver in his Vermont SportsCar-prepped Subaru WRX STi rally car equipped with BFGoodrich RC01 Rally tires.

Washington’s Climb to the Clouds races to the 6,288-foot summit of the Northeast’s tallest peak and is one of the greatest motorsports challenges for both man and machine.  Higgins was the last competitor to race, which thrilled the fans and enthusiasts attending in anticipation of a new course record. 1. Since you are the producer of the COPS TV show how did you go from making TV shows to offroad racing?

I became interested in offroad racing with the Baja 1000 in 2008.  A neighbor mentioned he was building a car for that race, and I told him to make one for me as well….thinking my sons and I would race once and cross it off the bucket list!  Obviously, I underestimated the appeal of offroading….

2. What is more intense, riding along in a police chase or the first 5 miles of the Baja 1000?

Racing in the Baja 1000 — especially getting out of town — is far more intense for me than a high speed pursuit!  In fact, my codriver is the former Sheriff of Las Vegas, a real cop, and he told me he had never had a more intense experience than his first Baja 1000 race…and he’s been involved in everything from hi-speed pursuits to shootouts!

3. How many race cars are part of the COPS racing team? Who are the drivers?

Right now we are running three cars in the SCORE series, plus occasional races in SNORE and MORE.  We have a Class 1, Class 10 and Class 12. Dan Martin and Dale Dondel race the Class 1, my son and I, Morgan Langley, race the Class 10, and my son Zak Langley and Bernie Carr race the Class 12.

4. What is your favorite race of the year? Why?

I suppose my favorite race is the Baja 1000 since we won in 2009 in Class 1 and in 2010 in Class 4, when I also won the championship in Class 4.  But all the Baja races turn me on because of the “Wild West” feeling of racing your guts out with avid fans cheering you on, and helping you out, during the marathon runs.

5. Have you ever been hassled by less than law abiding citizens because of your paint scheme?

As you probably know, we are not “real” cops but happen to do a show called COPS! We’re a bunch of TV guys who do TV.  Having said that, most fans and offroaders know where we’re coming from and have no issues with us. But it goes for less than law abiding citizens too!  We’re not trying to arrest anyone; just trying to win races!

6. What is your favorite TV show besides COPS and any of your produced shows?

Hmmm.  My favorite TV shows, apart from my own, would be “Deadliest Catch” on the reality side, and “Game of Thrones” on the fiction side.  But I like all good TV shows, especially ones that aren’t “faked” if they pretend to be real, or ones that seem real even if they are faked (like fictional TV).

7. What race do you want to win the most and in what class?

The race I want to win most is the next one!  Having said that, the Baja 1000 still beckons me to make it three years in a row, whatever the class.  Personally, my goal is to have all three of our cars podium for the Baja 1000. THAT is a goal I dream about….

8. Do you have any plans of getting into the Trophy Truck class?

I’m a buggy boy.  We’ve just ordered a new Class 1 from Racer Engineering, and we’re looking at another Class 10 from them as well.  Our plans for the future is to run two cars per race, not three, with Class 10 branching out to other series in SNORE and Best in the Desert and so forth.  But at this stage, I just want to race more and more whether it’s SCORE or SNORE or MORE or whichever!

9. RoadWarriors is your new TV show about offroad racing, what can you tell us about it?

ROAD WARRIORS is my attempt to show what it’s like to be in offroad racing from the ground up.  Everybody does “sports” coverage, with objective camera views and narration.  We wanted to get it back on the ground, and in the cars and the pits, to show what racing is really like from the inside out.  Hopefully we’ve captured some of that feeling and reality, which is like no other experience I know of.  But it’s up to the audience to decide.  If nothing else, I think people will catch a glimpse of what racing is about from a race teams’ Point of View, including drivers and chase and what it takes to win a race.

10. At the Baja 500 there was 3D camera’s in use, are these going to be in a future offroad project?

In production, we just filmed the Baja 500 in 3D as a new experiment for us.  It will air on EPIX 3D in the coming year…and marks a new era for Langley Productions as we try to capture offroad racing in all its three-dimensional glory and agony. It’s going to be unique, and one of the story lines shows my son Zak Langley coming in 2nd Place in Class 12.  Of course I urge everybody to stay tuned….

11. How often are you on Facebook? Is it you personally posting on your profile?

I get on Facebook now and then, and yes, I do my own posting and always answer whoever writes.  My main interest is offroad racing (while I still have time to do it, since I just turned 68!) so I’m always there for fellow offroaders or fans.

Two National Runoffs Champions Will Earn Seat in Wide Open Excursion “Baja Challenge” Race Car

GREENVILLE, S.C. (June 16, 2011) – Two Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) champions will now have a chance to be SCORE Baja 1000 champions, courtesy of BFGoodrich® Tires’ expanded contingency program. For the second straight year, BFGoodrich Tires will award two SCCA National Runoffs Champions seats in the 44th Annual SCORE Baja 1000 in the “Baja Challenge” (BC) class in November. The 2011 SCCA National Championship Runoffs will take place Sept. 19-25 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.

“We received a fantastic response to the announcement of our SCCA Baja 1000 contingency program when it launched last year, so it was an easy decision to bring it back in 2011, especially now that BFGoodrich Tires is the ‘Official Street Tire’ of the SCCA,” said Silvia Mammone, BFGoodrich Tires motorsports and sponsorship manager. “It gives us a great opportunity to accentuate BFGoodrich Tires’ legendary success both on- and off-road. Last year, Chad Gilsinger won the seat, and it was fun to see him do well at the Baja 1000 – a race and environment that was completely unfamiliar to him.”

Gilsinger had never participated in an off-road race before, but his win in the SCCA Runoffs in the T3 class last year earned him a seat in the BFGoodrich Tires BC race car at the SCORE Baja 1000. Joining Gilsinger were 2010 Team BFGoodrich members Bud Brutsman, Jason Scherer, Kyle Tucker, Lars Wolfe and Casey Currie. Even though the six drivers had limited seat time together prior to the race, the team managed to earn second place in the BC class by using different techniques from their various racing backgrounds.

“I never thought that by winning a class at the SCCA Runoffs I would get an opportunity to race the Baja 1000,” explained Gilsinger. “Taking home the T3-class championship in 2010 was a great experience and accomplishment for me, but driving a leg down the Baja peninsula with BFGoodrich Tires was unbelievable. I went through terrain I would never dream possible and we ran the whole race on the same set of tires. After finishing second in the BC class last year, I’ve set my sights on another SCCA championship, so I can get down to Baja and win it this time.”

More than 600 drivers will participate in the SCCA National Championship Runoffs, making it the country’s largest amateur road-racing championship. To be eligible for contingencies, racers must use BFGoodrich competition tires on-track and display the required decals. Classes eligible for the contingency are T1, T2, T3, AS, SSB, SSC, STO and STU. Chapter 3 – “Rally 101”

Continuing White’s driving upgrade, the BFGoodrich Tires team put him through the paces at the DirtFish Rally School on a muddy Rally 101 course. White was instructed by two rally racing all-stars – Forest Duplessis, DirtFish Rally School chief instructor, and David Higgins, British Rally Champion and Subaru Rally Team USA member. During White’s time behind the wheel of a Vermont SportsCar-prepared Subaru race car equipped with BFGoodrich^® g-Force^™ Rally tires, he learned advanced car control, including trail braking and cornering techniques.

BFGoodrich Tires Wins 28th SCORE Baja 500 in 31 Years;

72^nd Overall Four-Wheel SCORE Baja Race Win

ENSENADA, Mexico (June 5, 2011) – It will be a weekend to remember for 23-year-old Bryce Menzies, who harnessed the power of his #70 Trophy Truck with BFGoodrich® Baja T/A®KR tires and earned his first overall Tecate SCORE Baja 500 victory. Menzies’ victory gave BFGoodrich Tires its 28th Tecate SCORE Baja 500 win in 31 years and 72nd overall four-wheel SCORE Baja race win. BFGoodrich Tires claimed victory in first 7 of the 10 overall spots and 13 of the 18 car/truck/buggy classes that completed the event.

“Congratulations to all of the racers who conquered Baja on BFGoodrich tires and great job to the 13 class winners,” said Silvia Mammone, motorsports and sponsorship manager, BFGoodrich Tires. “We will celebrate alongside our winning teams tonight, but it’s back to work on Monday to prepare for our heavy schedule of desert racing including SCORE’s Las Vegas Terrible Primm 300 and of course, the legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.”

Menzies, who was first off the start line, took advantage of the dust-free course and held the physical lead throughout the entire 452.84-mile race. Throughout the blistering-fast race, Menzies drove the entire course and averaged 49.87 miles per hour to finish with a winning time of nine hours, four minutes and 52 seconds. BFGoodrich Tires’ racers claimed the top seven overall spots in the four-wheel classes and captured a podium sweep. Team BFGoodrich member Rob MacCachren finished second, 12 minutes and 33 seconds behind Menzies, after starting out ninth in his #20 MasterCraft Safety Racing Ford F-150. Andy McMillin, the 2010 Tecate SCORE Baja 500 winner, secured the third overall spot in his #31 McMillin Realty Ford F-150 Trophy Truck with driving partner Scott McMillin, clocking in just 36 seconds behind MacCachren. All three podium finishers recorded penalty-free races.

“This win gives us a huge jump on the points,” commented Menzies as the race concluded. “I didn’t have one flat all day long. Not bent rims, no nothing. I couldn’t be happier than I am right now.”

BFGoodrich tires also helped other drivers dominate their individual classes. Steven Eugenio and Adam Pfankuch not only won Class 1, but also finished seventh overall in their debut race in a new Chevy-powered Jimco open-wheel desert race car. Justin Matney continued his stellar season by winning the Class 8 with driving partner Rudolfo Iribe in a Chevy Silverado and Class 11 with driving partner Ramon Fernandez in a stock VW sedan. Clyde Stacy, Kyle Green and Eduardo Laguna conquered a Class 4 win in a PSD-Chevy to continue Stacy’s undefeated SCORE Class 4 racing run in 2011. Also winning their third consecutive race in the 2011 SCORE Desert Series were Elias Hanna with driving partner Miguel Padilla in the 7SX Class in a Ford Ranger and Jessica McMillin and driving partner Beau Elkert in the ProTruck class piloting a Ford F-150.

The 2011 Tecate SCORE Baja 500 started and finished in downtown Ensenada on Boulevard Costero for the fourth straight year. Starting and finishing in Ensenada, this year’s tight and technical course ran in a clockwise direction for the seventh straight year.

The legendary SCORE Baja 500 is still underway as we are writing this, racers will be battling all Baja has to offer till early Sunday morning. Today has been a day of great racing with Bryce Menzies winning the prestigious Trophy Truck class as well as the 4 Wheel overall. In Class 1 Steve Euegino/Adam Pffankuch took the win coming from the back of the pack picking people off mile by mile. Running the number plate Ox, Colton Udall took the win on the bikes, crossing the finish line the same time as 1x in support of Jeff Ox Kargola. Of course all results are unofficial until SCORE reviews all tracking and gives out any necessary penalties.

Our day (Myself, Scott Smith, and Curtis Guise) started off at the Ojos Negros road crossing, where we would be shooting for the first 12 vehicles until we had to leave for our next spot as we would be following the main pack all day. Being that it was at mile 33, everyone was pretty much in the same order as they started, except that Roger Norman didn’t come through, and Rob Mac has moved up a spot passing TSCO.

The next spot we headed to was near KM77 where they get back on the dirt from a pavement section. We’d shot there at the 1000 last year and we knew if we timed it right we’d be able to catch the leaders there for a second time. By now we were at race mile 80 and the racers were starting to get spread out, with a few people nowhere to be seen, and a few jumping or falling back a few positions. Robby Gordon had moved through the pack in his Dakar Hummer to 16h physically with BJ Baldwin right behind him, still unable to “open up the back of it like a bag of cheatos”. Also by now some of the Class 1 cars had been working there way to the Trophy Truck pack going for the overall.

After an hour went by we got in the truck and drove down to Borrego to shoot at the mini zoo road / Ojos jump. With the racers having to go through the summit, and with a lot of rough sections before the jump we knew we had plenty of time to beat them, and we got there with about 20 minutes to spare. When we first got there the crowd didn’t seem to be as big as years past, but as soon as that first helicopter came around the mountain, and dust could be seen in the distance people came out of nowhere and we were now rubbing elbows with fans wanting to play chicken with a trophy truck.

Bryce Menzies was still holding his lead strong with Andy McMillin right behind him, A funny moment came when Bryce went by and all the locals thought Vildosola was in the lead because of the Redbull paint job. When Vildosola did come through he hit the jump the best, launching his truck to the crowds delight. Robby Gordon also launched his Hummer off the jump coming in a respectful second place in the air department. At this point, which was about race mile 200, it looked as if Robby had made up the most positions again coming by 6th physically.

We shot near Borrego for about two and a half hours before heading to our last spot which was at the meadow before they cross over near Ojos, near race mile 419. By now the sun was getting close to the ridgeline and the racers were only a short time away from racing at night. Bryce still held his lead showing that in his first full season in a Trophy Truck he is a force to be reckoned with. The team of Larry Rosseler and Tim Herbst had gotten around Andy McMillin and came by in second place. While Justin Davis was the first physical Class 1 car, the single seater of Euegino was close behind on his way to the win.

Stay tuned for more information on results as they come in. RDC will be at the finish line all night to bring you the best coverage in offroad. In the mean time we just crossed the border and are going to Jack In The Box for a milkshake, curly fries, and a jumbo jack.

Armed with a team of all-star drivers, BFGoodrich Tires is looking to further establish its legacy of winning performances by capturing its 28th win in 31 years of racing at the 2011 Tecate SCORE Baja 500.

The Tough Course Ahead
The 2011 Tecate SCORE Baja 500 will host nearly 250 entries in 28 Pro and seven Sportsman classes. The rugged 452.84-mile course is similar to last year’s course, although it is 14 miles longer due to terrain changes from natural weather patterns.

The BFGoodrich Tires Arsenal of Drivers
Andy McMillin, Bryce Menzies, Rob MacCachren and Jesse Jones are some of the BFGoodrich Tires drivers to watch for at the Tecate SCORE Baja 500. Each has been tremendously successful in 2011 racing in the desert on BFGoodrich® Baja T/A®KR tires.

McMillin, the reigning Tecate SCORE Baja 500 champion, will start the race in second position behind pole-sitter Menzies, who won the 2011 SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge and placed sixth in class at the 2011 SCORE San Felipe 250. McMillin is looking to add to his list of Baja accomplishments by capturing his sixth overall victory south of the border. McMillin has already reached the podium in 2011, with a third place overall finish at the SCORE San Felipe 250.

“I am excited about this year’s SCORE Baja 500,” said 2010 Tecate SCORE Baja 500 winner McMillin. “We have worked hard all season for this race, and this year’s course is very similar to the one we won on last year. MacCachren, a veteran off-road racer fresh off his 2011 SCORE San Felipe 250 overall victory, will have to fight his way through the dust of the nine trophy trucks starting in front of him. Jones, who drew the 12th spot, was the 2010 SCORE overall champion and placed second overall at the 2011 SCORE San Felipe 250, less than one minute behind MacCachren.

With the Tecate SCORE Baja 500, BFGoodrich Tires will be looking to secure a third consecutive victory in the 2011 SCORE International Racing Series season, after wins earlier this year at the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge and the SCORE San Felipe 250. In 2010, BFGoodrich Tires and its all-star team of drivers conquered the desert-racing series by capturing a first place finish at each of the five SCORE desert races.

On April 21, 2011, BFGoodrich Tires invited members of the off-road community to cast their votes for one of four BFGoodrich Tires’ pre-selected Outstanding Trails and clubs.  Since the launch of the 2011 Outstanding Trails vote, BFGoodrich Tires encountered an issue with the voting site when “voting bots,” programs designed to cast multiple votes in milliseconds, infiltrated the site and caused an unfair voting situation.

In an effort to make the vote fair and beneficial for all four clubs, BFGoodrich Tires will eliminate all votes submitted on the voting site prior to April 26, 2011, effective today.  The site will continue to offer consumers the option of voting once a day per IP address.   BFGoodrich Tires has also made a contribution of $500 to each club for use at their trail.

To ensure that the clubs get as many votes as possible, BFGoodrich will extend the voting period an additional two weeks.  The new voting deadline will be 11:59 p.m. (EDT) on Thursday, June 30, 2011.  The Outstanding Trail that garners the most votes will be announced on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at www.BFGoodrichTires.com.

Contributing to the highly competitive nature of the popular Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, which directly contributes to the popularity and overall success of the series, the record number of tire manufacturers involved in the 2011 championship should be recognized and thanked.

New to the series in 2011, the Mickey Thompson brand has made an impact right away. Although the company has limited involvement in 2011, by taking part in the Pro Buggy Unlimited, Superlite and ProLite Unlimited Classes, the brand has scored four wins already. This includes two wins and a second-place finish for Mike Porter in the Pro Buggy Unlimited class, Jacob Person sweeping the weekend at Speedworld in the Superlite class and Ryan Beat making his debut in the Prolite Unlimited Class, all on Mickey Thompson Tires. Look for Mickey Thompson in 2012 with a new Pro 2 & 4 Unlimited race tire.

General Tire, one of the tried-and-true mounts for the V-8-powered classes, is currently leading the Pro2 Unlimited points standings with multi championship winner Carl “The Punisher” Renezeder. Also running General Tires is the Hart & Huntington/MavTV team featuring Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg and Josh Merrell.

Maxxis Tire’s, Robert Naughton came into the season with a solid win at round 2. Brian Deegan is having an inspirational season so far, running second in both the Pro2 Unlimited and Pro Lite Unlimited championships sitting atop Maxxis Tires.

In Pro 4 Unlimited, defending champ Rick “The Iceman” Huseman has won every race so far in 2011 aboard BFGoodrich rubber. Another 2010 Lucas Oil Off Road Series Champion, Rob “The Man” MacCachren has gained heavy confidence by heading to Glen Helen with a Pro 2 Unlimited sweep at Speedworld rounds 3 and 4.

Toyo drivers Kyle Leduc and Jeremy McGrath are both highly successful racers that are looking to find their winning groove. Both drivers won’t settle for second in their highly competitive classes and are looking to stand at the top of the box after each race.

Yokohama driver Jimmy Stephensen is sitting 4th in Pro Lite Unlimited while 2010 Pro Buggy Unlimited Champion Cameron Steele is running 6th in points in his Pro Lite also on Yokohamas.

Three trails will be selected in 2011 –BFGoodrich Tires, in conjunction with Tread Lightly! ® and United Four Wheel Drive Associations (UFWDA), have chosen the Interlake Trail 19 located in Lynnville, Ind., and Morrison Jeep Trail in Shoshone National Forest, Wyo., to be 2011 Outstanding Trails — and now, for the first time ever, off-road enthusiasts will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite BFGoodrich-nominated off-road trail to be the third.

Fans in the off-road community can vote at bfgoodrichtrails2011.outdoorhub.com.  The winning trail will receive a $4,000 grant on behalf of BFGoodrich Tires for trail conservation and maintenance efforts.  The four trails up for vote are:

Following is a closer look at each of the trails, and their sponsoring clubs, up for nomination:

• Golden Spike Trail was developed at the 1989 Easter Jeep Safari as a connection between the Poison Spider Mesa and Gold Bar Rim trails.  The trail offers challenging obstacles, non-stop scenery and a road surface between obstacles that make for a comfortable, slow and steady pace.

Red Rock 4-Wheelers, Inc. is a non-profit club organized to bring together adventure loving individuals and families who share the common interest of active four-wheeling.  The club’s objectives are to encourage family recreation through safe and responsible operation of four-wheel drive vehicles and utilize public lands in a responsible manner as part of an effort to keep public land trails and roads available for multipurpose use.

• Dusy-Ershim OHV Route offers 33 miles of challenging obstacles and beautiful scenery high in the skies at an altitude of 10,200 feet.  The route features high mountain meadows, creeks, six natural lakes, unique granite mountains, cliffs and panoramic views.  The trail is rated “most difficult” and is a major challenge to travel, therefore having advanced driving skills is highly recommended.

The Four Wheel Drive Club of Fresno was founded in 1954 in Fresno, Calif.  The club has since built ten trails and currently maintains six.  The club coordinates with the forest service to perform clearing in the spring, closings in the fall and other various work projects throughout the year on the entire club’s adopted trails.  Some of the various work projects include building and maintaining toilets, maintaining campgrounds, trail cleanups and maintenance of trail signage.

• Blanca Peak Trail features a rocky six miles of trail with many granite outcroppings. The trail offers many challenging obstacles including Jaws 1 through 4, views of the valley, Como Lake and spectacular mountain scenery.

Creeper Jeepers Gang is a family oriented 4-Wheel Drive club, promoting safe and environmentally sensitive off road recreation and family.

• Mirror Lake Trail is located in the Sierra National Forest approximately 13 miles east of Shaver Lake on Highway 168.  The trail features beautiful lake scenery with steep boulders and large hills for the more experienced off-roader.

Lock and Low 4-Wheel Drive Club members are people interested in promoting family four-wheeling, fostering safety and education of responsible four-wheeling.

BFGoodrich® Tires 2011 Outstanding Trails

The Indiana Four Wheel Drive Association on behalf of Interlake Trail 19, and the Magic City 4-Wheelers, Inc., on behalf of Morrison Trail, have been chosen by BFGoodrich® Tires to  receive a $4,000 grant to use towards maintain the trails.  The grants will be used to preserve the scenic off-highway trail system and continue conservation efforts for two of America’s most beautiful areas for off-roading.

• Interlake Trail 19, in Lynnville, Ind., is a 3,500-acre property, owned and managed by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.  The existing trail is a beautiful cruise through conifer and hardwood trees that are 40 to 50 years old.  On a sunny summer day, the shade offers a nice diversion from the open prairie-like trails of the central areas of Interlake.  The area not only offers motorized trail riding, but activities for all types of outdoor enthusiasts including hunting, fishing, horseback riding and mountain climbing.  A rock garden is being planned, which has the potential to be one of the longest man-made rock crawling courses in the region.

Indiana Four Wheel Drive Association (IFWDA) was formed in 1980 and acts on the common concern for motorized recreation while practicing stewardship of our natural resources.  IFWDA, through its association with other state and national organizations, works to promote and act on issues affecting four-wheel drive recreation.

• Morrison Trail, in Wyoming’s Shoshone National Forest, offers various types of terrain including arid canyons, alpine forests, high mountain meadows and small lakes at 10,000 feet.  Hitting the trail shortly after it opens in mid-July is a gift as off-road enthusiasts will have the pleasure of experiencing a carpet of beautiful wildflowers in the meadows.  The panoramic views from almost every part of the trail are breathtaking and inspiring.

Magic City 4-Wheelers, Inc. is a family oriented OHV club.  The club organizes annual race rallies, monthly trail rides and trail maintenance trips.  Magic City 4-Wheelers always follow the Tread Lightly! trail ethic and educate others when possible regarding proper trail ethic.  All club members are also members of the Montana 4X4 Association and UFWDA.

About the Outstanding Trails Program

The BFGoodrich® Tires Outstanding Trails program was established in 2006 to raise awareness for responsible use and preservation of off-road trails while providing aid in the trails’ conservation efforts.  Through 2010, the Outstanding Trails program has recognized 24 off-road trails and 24 clubs across 16 states and two in Canada.  The program has provided more than $90,000 in grants in support of the various trails conservation efforts.

They’ve added two new team members to the army this season, which now consists of Pro-4 champions Rick Huseman and Johnny Greaves, Pro-2 star and motocross legend Jeremy McGrath, Pro-lite champion Marty Hart in the Pro-2 class, and returning Pro-lite champion Casey Currie. We kick off the first Mad Media Wednesday, with a feature on one of the most under rated off-road racers in desert racing, trophy truck champion Jesse Jones. He’s not flashy or loud, and he doesn’t have a big sponsor, but he’s been standing on the top of the podium more and more lately. After securing the 2010 SCORE Championship, Jesse gave a command performance in January and battled upstart Bryce Menzies at the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge, taking second place overall by less than a minute. Shortly after he clawed his way from seventh place to win the Best In The Desert Parker 425.  With the San Felipe 250 about to kick-off, I’m putting my money on another top three finish by Jesse.  Here’s a look into how Jesse has become one of the most consistent finishers in desert racing.

San Luis Obispo, CA, February 7, 2010 – The Canidae Racing Team, in their newly redesigned 2011 Trophy Truck, was able to turn in a hard-fought finish in the 2011 Parker 425 Best in the Desert race in Arizona this past weekend.

The race began Saturday with a total of three 142-mile laps across the treacherous Arizona desert. More than 30 teams competed in the elite Trick Truck (aka Trophy Truck) class, with only a portion of those teams making it across the finish line.

While the team’s newly installed 800 HP 454 CI Dougan small block Chevy performed flawlessly, the truck flew into a canyon and sustained some damage. After having been pulled out by the generous crew of the TSCO truck, team Canidae went to work and got the Trophy Truck back to racing condition in record time and was able to complete the race.

Next up for Team Canidae is the famous SNORE Mint 400 March 26th and 27th. Last year at the Mint was the team’s best performance with a Trick Truck 7th place finish. The team is looking forward in trying to better last year’s awesome finish.

For those familiar with desert racing’s rich history, the names John Swift and Steve Olliges are instantly recognizable.  John Swift was an original member of the legendary Ford Rough Riders factory team, racking up an impressive list of wins against competition like Ivan Stewart and Rick Mears, while Olliges joined the team four years later in Class 8S.  Olliges and Swift are not content to just talk about the “good old days”, on the contrary they are still making history.  For 2011, the duo will team up for the entire Best in the Desert schedule and select SCORE International and SNORE races in their new No. 28 BFGoodrich / MasterCraft Safety Trick Truck.
 
Swift and Olliges’ last win together was in 2008 at the Silver State 300, so the duo is not unfamiliar with being at the top of the podium.   The new BFGoodrich / MasterCraft Safety truck will debut on February 6th at the Parker 425, BITD’s season opening race for 2011.  Coincidently, this is the same venue where Swift and Olliges last raced together, finishing 2nd in the Trick Truck class in 2009.  “Steve and I have very high expectations,” John Swift recently commented.  “We are racing for the season championship.”  The task will not be easy, with a record number of Trick Trucks slated to run in the Best in the Desert series this season. 

 
To help reach their quest for victory , Olliges and Swift are armed with their new Geiser-built Ford Trick Truck with the distinctive retro paint job laid over the latest in cutting edge desert racing technology, including 39-inch BFGoodrich Baja T/A tires damped by huge 4.4-inch Fox Racing Shox bypass shocks.   No detail was overlooked on this new truck, right down to the No. 28, the same number used by John Swift on his Rough Rider Ford Ranger in years past.  Motivation for the Geiser Trick Truck comes from a Dougan’s Racing Engines-prepped Ford backed by a bulletproof Rancho Drivetrain transmission.  Inside the cockpit, a host of MasterCraft Safety products, including 3G suspension seats, six-point harnesses, and window nets keep Steve and John safe at race speeds.

CEDAR CITY, UT    FEBRUARY 1, 2011:  On Track Racing Team, composed of Dean Bulloch, Barry Beadle, Buzz Bronsema and Todd Stephensen will put four Ultra4 cars on the starting grid of the 2011 Griffin King of the Hammers running BFGoodrich KRT Tires.  “We have pretty much been a team all along without saying anything,” said Barry Beadle.  “We are making it formal so we can show team support at all the Ultra4 Races this year.  Each member of the team brings a talent and success from 2010, which when put all together we have a greater chance to make a serious impact.”

On Track Racing Team is supported by BFGoodrich, the tire of choice for all four drivers.  “BFGoodrich is all we have ran and we really like them.  It is all I would ever want to run,” said Buzz Bronsema.  PSC Steering has also been a main partner in the team, “Tom and the whole group at PSC has been extremely helpful in getting us anything that we need,” said Todd Stephensen.  Other partners include Trail-Gear, WARN Winch, Mastercraft Safety, Winchline, and CTM Racing Products.

King of the Hammers will be the first official appearance for this team.  “Three of the four cars are tested and proven.  Our team is better prepared than any race that we have been to,” said Dean Bulloch.  “I am really jazzed to have great people and great supporters on the team.  Even if we don’t win, they will certainly know we are there!”    Barry Beadle #4452 will start in the second row, Todd Stephensen #4427 will start mid pack in the 47^th PSC spot.  At the rear of the pack will be Dean Bulloch #4411 in 96^th and Buzz Bronsema #4417 will start on the last row drawing the 99^th starting position.  “I’m not too worried about it, we will just get really good at passing people,” said Buzz Bronsema.  Then added, “however, we did install a fresh air kit this year!”

In addition to having four cars in Fridays race, they will also have an Artic Cat Prowler in the Pit Bull Tires UTV King of the Hammers race on Thursday.   In 2010 the same group, although not officially associated as a team, had 3 Ultra4 cars and the UTV racing in the King of the Hammers, and all 4 vehicles finished.

The On Track Racing Team will start the 2011 season with the Griffin King of the Hammers and then will complete the additional Ultra4 races including BITD Silver State 300, Rausch Creek, American Rocksports Challenge, Stampede and Glen Helen Grand Prix.  Team members may participate in additional series including, but not limited to, Extreme Desert Racing Series, MOROC Extreme Off Road Racing Series and W.E. Rock.
