CRANDON, Wis. — Following an explosive 2009 season opening event at Texas Motor Speedway, the Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL swings West before heading to the “Big House” in Crandon, Wis.

TORC, the only national off-road racing circuit in the U.S., proved up to the task in the opener as the country’s top national off-road racers converged on Texas for a huge opening weekend.
After a May 29-30 date at Perris Speedway in Perris, Calif., TORC’s traveling Super Show of Off-Road Super Stars heads to Crandon International Off-Road Raceway for the first of two TORC weekends.
TORC’s June 20-21 race weekend at Crandon Raceway opens the special 40th Anniversary season at the legendary track. The TORC roster of off-road racers reads like a “Who’s Who of off-road racing.”
Giant stars like Scott Taylor (defending BorgWarner Shootout champion) and Scott Douglas, along with the racing LeDuc family return to Crandon. Also returning to take on Crandon’s fast and furious 1.5 mile track is Rob MacCachren. Joining up with perennial champion Johnny Greaves is well-known moto-x star Jeremy McGrath. Greaves will drive his PRO 4×4 while McGrath will take on Crandon for the first time in his PRO 2WD.

PRO 2WD champion Dan Vanden Heuvel will be at Crandon for his 31st year of off-road racing at the Big House. World Champion PRO 2WD racer Ross Hoek will again lineup against a huge field of PRO 2WD trucks.

Other big names familiar to Crandon fans are Adrian Cenni, Travis Coyne, Rick Huseman, Jeff Kincaid, Chad Hord, Marty Hart, Steve Federico and many, many more.

The Crandon weekend features the 16th running of the Forest County Potawatomi Chairman’s Cup race. Imitated but never equaled, the event is the longest running big money Cup race in the U.S. “Every off-road racer in the country wants their name on one of the three Crandon Cups,” said TORC co-owner Ricky Johnson. Johnson also is one of the top names competing in the PRO 2WD class.
Crandon Cup racing also includes the Decision at Sundown PRO Light Pickup Cup race as well as the famous BorgWarner Cup race. BorgWarner will be awarding another famous award this coming weekend at the Indianapolis 500 – the traditional BorgWarner Trophy.
In addition to TORC Pro racing, Crandon will again feature the popular Sportsman racing classes such as Stock Trucks and exotic buggies. New for the 40th Anniversary is special Cup racing for a Sportsman class to be announced. Tickets for the June 20-21 TORC race weekend at Crandon are $30.
