Five races, one option: Victory

For immediate Release
After a season of highs and lows in 2008, Mexicali’s favorite team Vildosola Racing, has announced their plans for this forth coming 2009 season. Once again the team will be competing in some of the most grueling events in North America and Mexico. The Vildosola Racing/Red Bull Ford F-150, sporting the traditional number #4, will be competing some of the most challenging races in the deserts of Baja and Nevada.
Starting this month, in Nevada, the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge will kickoff the team’s 2009 schedule. This race is one of the most spectator-friendly of the year, taking place in Laughlin, Nevada, a small town now converted into a great vacation spot. Last year Tavo suffered a bad accident in the qualifying round on Friday. The team worked all day and night to repair the damaged truck to compete the next day. On Saturday Tavo achieved the impossible and put himself in first place for the day’s race. The second day of action was greeted with heavy rain; this changed all perspective on the track and trucks. Tavo consistently kept the pace of the race; he started in the pole position in this heat and he was leading the field for almost half the race, until engine problems kept him away from his first podium.
The second race in this 2009 season will be the SCORE San Felipe 250 to be raced on the weekend of March 14-16 in the beautiful spring destination. This location is very important to the team, since San Felipe is very close to Mexicali, the team’s hometown. Ensenada is also considered Mexicali’s own backyard, and to top things off, in 2003, Vildosola Racing became the first Mexican national team to win a race overall in the series, at the hands of team owner Gus Vildosola.
Following this event, the races travel to the pacific side of the Baja peninsula for the run of the 41st edition of the SCORE Baja 500, to be raced on June 5-7. Ensenada is a great place and this race is a tradition in town. During three days the entire town gathers to welcome every racer sponsor and fan who came from different places to spectate or compete in this mid-summer marathon. This is also one of the team’s favorite races and Gus & Tavo have had plenty of good results at this race, in different classes that competed before.
In October, Vildosola Racing comes back to their roots in Baja, and they compete on the traditional CODE Mexicana Logistics 300, to be raced on Oct 5-7. The Laguna Salada dry lake on the outskirts of Mexicali will the host this competition once more. CODE off road, the series organizer, has promoted this event for the last six years, and every time this race happens, more and more racers and fans show up, making this competition one of the most popular events in the CODE series.
With less than two months of preparation, the team focuses all its efforts to race in the most prestigious event in the SCORE series. The weekend of Nov 19-22, Ensenada welcomes back more than 400 teams and thousands of spectators from different places around the world for the 42nd SCORE Baja 1000. Two years ago in this race, after an intense battle for the last 400 miles of the most difficult and challenging Baja 1000 courses on the way to Cabo San Lucas, despite some mechanical problems, the team achieved its best results ever in this race; a second overall and second in class, provided the team with some confidence about what is next. Last year and after sorting some flat tires and slow traffic, Tavo Vildosola retired from the race before the halfway point with some mechanical problems.
This year Vildosola Racing has their plans already developed, here is a complete look of the schedule for the 2009 season.
