  • Steve and I bought a new truck--we are going to have GMR build a new 4-link chassid for it 2" tube etc to make it legal, and a new power plant --we plan to keep the same body and paint scheme--just modernizing the monster garage trophy truck
    not singling us out
all vehicles running diesel must have no visable black smoke --etc etc--
I looked into a particulate filter and its was like 8-10 grand
that is why we are running BITD -- I just need to start bugging casey about the class 8 diesel thing
Rob, did you sort out the diesel particulate filter thing with Bill at SCORE? Was it for all diesels or was he singling you out?? Any luck with BITD for getting turbo diesels into Class 8??

    Cheers from here!

    Cole
    Parker 425
Hummer out at mm7.5 first lap, broker driver's side rear lower a-arm == massive failure, as lower arm came apart-- bent shocks, etc too thick of metal to safely weld back and send the car off again
We will be at the Parker 425 Pre-run this weekend, and starting the full year of BITD with the Hummer at the race
We are putting in a new PWR radiator, 48" wide x 27" tall by 5" wide, should hold plenty of coolant
we used a fuel cell, and depending on what h.p. we are running either the straight cp3 pump on the engine itself , or running through a F.A.S.S. pump system
We have been trying to tune it so we get no black Smoke, SCORE will not let us run at this point until we put on a diesel particulate filter --and that looks to cost between 10 and 30 grand -- I'm waiting to hear back from Bill at Score tech to see if what they really mean is not black smoke --if that is teh case we can tune it right so we only get little puffs when the turbo hasn't cuaght up yet.---so in short, fuel cell, with a pick up tube -10an, and -8am return line to our pump either the stock oen of an electric pump

Rob really dig the Hummer i have a quick question for you we are kicking around building a sportsman diesel ford what all did you do for your fuel set up? custom cell and pump or did you go with regular aeromotive stuff?
we are off to PWR radiators thursday and Mike at Racer x id going to help with the radio
Moving the intercooler, and a new radiator setup
now if we can get Bill at Score to remove the rule for a diesel particulate filter 10-30K for one that will work we might just race Primm
about 2 miles into the Tow we got towed right into a huge rock-

the big rock in this picture, ( this is after we got the steering straight enough for towing-

    - this really ended the V2R race for us
ripped our brushguard off, destroyed our steering gear, damaged the steering arm, center link, etc --now we were really in trouble, we did get it back up on a trailer, and I had to drive to vegas and back to get a new steering gear, we got it in the truck at about 2:30 am

we started the next day--over heated again at mm 10 for the day put some water in it 1.5 gallons--and that took care of it it was running for the next 5 miels at 160 degrees, then the sterring arm broke due to the damage the day before, and we couldn't make it to the pit 1 closing time

    well next time I guess
We had a hell of a day 1
the truck overheated at about mm 1.5 the temperature jsut kept climbing -- don't know why at this point we have been fighting the over heating gremlin for a year now--the last three outings testing for this race it never once over heated

well we were stranded for 3 hours at mm 12 then we got a tow from a BITD offical Vol.
Very gratefull to get back to work on the truck ,and get her ready for day 2-- just had to add water, and be creative --as to why it was over heating

well based on testing we swapped to 2wd , strengthened the front frame and a bunch of stuff for V2r
saw you guys out testing at the short course track at glen helen....that was quite a sight! hahah
Well Just got off the phone with BITD, we can't run class 8 because of the turbo diesel, so we have to run Trick Truck old #52 again

We are awaiting a whole new front end from Blitzkreig --converting the 4WD hummer to a 2WD for Vegas to Reno , we shed many lbs puliing out the transfercase, front pumpkin, cv joints.shafts, and frotn gered hubs , driveshaft, etc

    less to break now
nope, we had a major break the week before V2R, its back up and running now, we are going to our first race on the 13th MORE chilli cookoff 250, then on from there --to where I don't know
