If you open up the trans, don't you think someone will find a way to get 10 maybe 12 inches of travel?

    up date class 9

No IRS, Class Nine should stay a swing axle. Measure travel?? full droop to bump stop travel is what I was thinking? Plus or minus a tolerance?

    up date class 9

Kind of a newbie, but I know the transaxles are stupid money to maintain to be competitive. Keep it a swing axle, limit it to 9" of travel and stock max width. Anything else goes...... for the trans. Whatever brakes or drums. Whatever tire or wheel.

    Here we go again

Once again...I know two things about transaxle....Jack and **** . But why not open it up to anything but limit the travel to 9" of SWING axle and set a max. tire to tire width? MEGA GEARBOX Something like this with huge axles and bearing and what ever brakes........?

    Here we go again

Tapeworm, good points on everything....but I think rear travel limit would stop the maxing out of the trans on guys that want to keep what they are using....meaning, this is the best we are able to get out of a vw swinger, keep that the limit but build what ever you can that will hold up and cut...

    Here we go again

Sorry if this is a steal, but I think spot on. Hypothetically, if I were starting a new class called 9 here are the specs. Aluminum rims. R15” max tire size 33”. Disc brakes. ......front and rear? Open Swing axle trans......limited to a max suspension travel Ball joint front end......they...

    Here we go again

I know very little about the VW transaxle but I do know its stupid money cost to maintain them and this makes no sense for an entry level class. Trans builder and 9 guy, if they opened up the rule so you could run any transaxle type rear suspensions but you could not exceed 8 or 9 inches of...

What are class nine top speeds on a dry lake bed?

When you have the car "pinned" for a long period of time, I was told that you should "Burp" the engine, or pump the gas pedal every now and then. What is the purpose of doing this? Helps cool the engine?

What are class nine top speeds on a dry lake bed?

Here is what we ended up getting, GPS top speeds on the same dry lake stretch. 1st lap first driver: Driver was 220 pounds and car had a full tank of gas, 64 MPH. 120 miles later, second driver: Driver was 175 pounds and the car was lighter minus what ever fuel was used, 72 MPH.

What are class nine top speeds on a dry lake bed? To be competitive, what speed should you be able to get your car up to and keep it there for 2 to 3 mile stretches?
