Moving to CA from MN. Bring 1994 XR600R?

I made the move. I bought an aluminum cycle trailer to put the ducati and the new bike on. I ended up getting a 2006 Suzuki DR650! It had about 6k miles on it mostly on road and I got it for $2500. My wife will learn to ride on it (she has ridden it and loves it) and I can learn to ride on...

Moving to CA from MN. Bring 1994 XR600R?

Yeah I will. I ride a Ducati 996 too so trackdays at Willow on that and some whoopty banging on the XR600R or the landcruiser the rest of the time!

Moving to CA from MN. Bring 1994 XR600R?

I found a used XR600R with a title, registration and a light kit on it. The dealer is willing to take my snowmobile in as trade. I was thinking that this would be a fun bike to have around the mojave area.

Moving from MN Tundra to CA Desert. Cooling tips?

It does not run not now.. Atleast not in MN. I have used flush systems before usually on vehicles I got used from someone else. I was deployed last year and my wife did not get it done and the truck probably needed it when I got it in 2007. On most vehicles I flush in the spring and do a few...

Moving from MN Tundra to CA Desert. Cooling tips?

The cooling system of my 80 series landcruiser will be backflushed, filled with flush and water, ran.. drained etc.. basically cleaned very well and refilled. I may also find a higher pressure cap. In the long term I really want to seriously upgrade its ability to keep cool. So I think...

Using Toyota 8 inch axle for racing - questions

The rear axle from a toyota FZJ80 (not Fj80) is a full floater. It would be a great place to start if you want to keep mr T axles. Of the available ratios 4.88:1 is pretty much spot on for 35-37" tires. I am going to truss my front and rear. The front will have the birfield ball braces.

    Cantilever variation.

I think the scale mock up of things will really help me get it designed right when it is time to make the real full size version. I will likely make a scale version of the chassis, rear cantilever and front 3 link with panhard (Radius arms going bye bye).

Headed to the Mojave area. What to see?

I might check out worthington racing in palmdale. They run a Dodge Cummins that has a solid front axle. So does my 80 series landcruiser.. Might be a good shop to talk to.

Headed to the Mojave area. What to see?

Guys I just got home from a year spent in Iraq wrenching on helicopters! We had temps that were over 120! I know to drink water but don't have the skinny on race events and things to see. I guess I could look up some truck builders and see if I can visit there shop. I am on a...

Headed to the Mojave area. What to see?

I am headed for a job interview but will have a few hours Wed and Friday. Any suggestions? I'd like to check out what I can of the prerunner/desert racing scene. If I land the job and move out there from MN it would rule.

    Cantilever variation.

I am also considering connecting the link closer to the axle and building straight DOM tube lower arms. I can get the ratio from the bell crank and it makes packaging easier. I think I may make a scale model of my frame and axles. Then make scale links and a bellcrank. This ought to...

    Draglink Orientation???

Go here and download the three link plus panhard rod calculator. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2267374&postcount=1 One of the most important things is for the drag link to be parallel with the PANHARD rod. The draglink and tie rod will always have a difference in angle.

    Cantilever variation.

DSRacing thanks. I think the third photo has bell cranks that are the closest to what I need based upon the direction of the shock motion in relation to the axle.

    Cantilever variation.

Not enough travel.. 12" of travel can be done on the 80 by modifying the existing shock mounts.. 10" is pretty easy to do.. But in either case you need to lower the bump stops to prevent bottoming the shock out. It works out ok for crawling articulation but reduces whooptybility. As...
