they really condensed our race as Ross Craft rolled on about the 3rd or 4th lap. That was some kind of top end land rush start, they red flaged 51600 at least 5 times because of crashes. Thank you for posting

You're welcome.. Looks like the turn out for the buggies and Baja bugs was better than all the other classes for both years.

At that time 51600 was the largest class at most races especially the Baja 500 and 1000 Parker and the Mint had dozens running. Rule changes killed 51600 for at the time it was easy and not so expensive to build a 2 shock Baja bug with drum brakes. I first raced 51600 after a few years in 11 in 1977 and it was huge and stayed that way untill the late 90s.. I still have the blue one and race BAP and rage every now and then

at the 90 race we got treated to a spectacular lighning show in the late afternoon
