Since so many quality Dakar and Rally-Raid drivers come out of South Africa, we can put this up here as well. Heck, there are lots of Jimcos sold and raced in SA as well so multiple reasons to follow along.

New Toyota Landcruiser 200 - promotion in the Namib desert.

Would Hallspeed build a few turbo diesel engine changeable 'Landcruiser' 2wd buggies? Probably less difficult to change a buggy between the South African petrol/ gasoline engine championship requirements and a turbo diesel engine for Dakar than for a front engined 4x4 Hilux engine conversion.
Develop the buggy chassis, brakes, suspension etc in the South African championship......

Landcruisers are a T2 staple - both in Dakar and in the World Cup. No need to do more than already is, its a perfect car when its a T2. But there are lately a lot of T1 Landcruiser 80s which are tubular frame with 80s panels. Lots done in Netherlands, France, Italy, Russia, Baltic countries and they show good results.

How about a RAV4 buggy like the Peugeot buggy then?
twin turbo on the old 3 litre 4 cylinder engine, double clutch transmission, active diffs allowed?

Brief preview of this series which begins tomorrow. In order to support their burgeoning Dakar and FIA Rally Raid vehicle manufacturers and drivers they have now created a "Dakar" spec class. A couple of Audi powered VW Amorak's have entered and a couple Brazilian drivers have shown up as well...

Exciting start for offroad season

The Amarok's are running a 2.5 litre turbo gasoline/ petrol engine according to this.
FB post - 'The Amarok race car is powered by the previous generation Audi TTRS 5-cylinder 2.5 turbo petrol engine with 225kW and 500 Newton Metres of torque. The gearbox is a Sadev 6-speed sequential.'
