How are kids under 25, that are still in the early stages of their racing careers, eligible for the hall of fame? Just curios.

These people aren't being considered for Induction in the Hall of Fame; they are nominees for our Impact Awards, as people who have been making an impact in the Industry over the past year.

I just have to say, and I am a massive supporter of ORMHOF, Carl Renezeder being up for an Impact Award and not actual induction into the Hall of Fame is really kind of sad. He is one of the greatest short course drivers of all time, and has some elite desert racing accomplishments. He reinvented what "Professional Off-Road Team" means, and helped keep short course afloat in the dark years by being a constant. Dude deserves to be in the Hall. Complete oversight by everyone in off-road (including myself) for not nominating him. I'm in hopes he doesn't get an Impact Award and we do right by him in 2018 and put him in the Hall.

Jimmy8, you are absolutely right! Shame on the off-road community for not stepping up and nominating Carl. I think a lot of people fail to realize that the ORMHOF group doesn't "self select" potential inductees. Instead, the select from individuals who are nominated by the greater off-road community.

You are correct...anyone can nominate someone for the Hall of Fame. A nominee must have been involved in the sport for a minimum of fifteen years. Nomination Packets are available on our website starting February 1. They are due back by April 30. An independent committee of twenty well-respected individuals from across the off-road community, including racers, promoters, manufacturers, current inductees, advocates, and several ORMHOF board members review the packets, and vote independently of each other. A nominee must receive votes from 2/3 of the committee to be considered for induction.

This thread is about the Impact Awards, which recognize people who have made an Impact in the sport over the past year. And Carl has certainly made an Impact by announcing his retirement, racing his final season, and giving us the opportunity to look back on his remarkable career. To become a voting member, go to www.ormhof.org/members and join. Ballots are sent out within 24 hours. Voting closes Sunday night, October 29, at midnight Pacific. The honorees will be announced at Monday night's Hall of Fame Induction & Awards Ceremony presented by SCORE International at the South Point in Las Vegas. Good luck to all of the nominees!
