Things in Ensenada are not that bad as some people said. People is at the streets working as always, that´s why covid-19 isn´t over yet. The race in august is imposible, covid cases are not going down. I just hope Ensenada can be host of the baja 1000 on november.

Like the Idea of "Charity Events" what about multiple Poker Run events. Non or Mortorized events, **** I have 29 miles of horse trails that all of us fat a-holes can run/walk and play a few hands and lock it into a Charity or School that needs help.
Any way to keep all racing alive.
Any other suggestion's?

I would guess anyone w a Baja house is already helping out a good bit and then some more recently. I have never been too fond of spending a good chunk so that a slice of it can go somewhere else. Not that its a bad thing at all, just not real effective. All can find a way if they want to.

I’m with @43mod, I prefer to give directly where possible. I’ve been giving to YWAM toward their food relief program. They’ve been going around dropping of boxes of food supplies to those in need who can’t afford it or can’t get out. Here’s a link if anyone is interested. Baja Food Relief — YWAM San Diego/Baja

I know there are other great organizations, I list this one just because it’s one i had an existing relationship with, so giving toward their food program was a no brainer. Maybe others can chime in their philanthropic organization connections down in Baja. Not sure if Dennis Hollenbeck’s organization is doing anything Covid specific, or if he needs any extra help during this time, but he also comes to mind.

The 500 is happening in August! SCORE will make the required concessions to pull this off. It will start at night at Estero beach.

I have been in Ensenada these past two weekends. I must say, the city is doing a better job of COVID-19 enforcement than we are in Southern California. Last weekend they had COVID check points "filters" at the end of the toll road and in Valle De Guadlupe. Everywhere masks are required. At the restaurants we went to they give you hand sanitizer and checked your temperature upon entering. At the grocery stores, Walmart and Starbucks they make you step on a mat with disinfectant for your shoes, in addition to the temp check and sanitizer. They have limited occupancy, with lines outside as one person exits, another is allowed to enter. They even have signs that say only one person per family is allowed inside. The beaches were closed and most people are wearing masks in public outside. I had dinner with a local friend who has friends in the Governor's office who confirmed the race is on. So it is at least a 50% sure thing.

Any word on continuing the sportsman cut off this year? Hoping that it was a 2019 experiment and won’t be continued.

One might think if you are too burley for a sportsman cut off you don’t enter sportsman???

True, but if we end up with some riders under 30yrs of age on our team again, in order to ride our 450x it’s Sportsman with the cut or Pro Moto Unlimited. So... there’s that.
I also didn’t hear a lot of talk of sportsman riders asking for less miles. If you snag do the full course don’t enter the race. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The mayor of Ensenada a few days ago declared emergency because of the uncontrolled cases of covid-19. Ensenada is still in color red. People is struggling with the disease, so racing in august is not right.

With all of the social distancing parameters and what not in place I know I’m not alone thinking that the 500 would suck. I always go on our
Preruns which are more fun than the actual race and I’m just “not feeling it” this year. The down economy because of the lack of tourism has to have a decent increase in crime and a bunch of whiteys down there in raptors and and other fancy vehicles are gonna be targeted. I really don’t wanna lug every single thing out of the trucks and trailers every night and store them in my hotel room. And I wanna go out to eat. And get buckets of beer and lap dances.

While everyone was racing the silver state 300 I was stuck in Vegas. I was alone but I was on Freemont. It was dumb. It’s really hard to have fun in a mask at a casino.

Anyway. If it’s canceled and/or we don’t race it for whatever reason I won’t be too bummed.

All this bullshizz because some jerkoff ate a bat. 2020 is a dumpster fire.

OK. I'm done.
Wow......

Moderator, will you please give mxben directions on how to get to the purple forum? He can’t seem to find it. I (and I think a lot of others) come on this forum to read about and discuss desert racing, not this b.s.

Why start it there? If they are looking to limit crowds, why wouldn't the start be place somewhere much more difficult to get to than Estero?
