LAS VEGAS, NV (July 30, 2020): The recent spike in COVID-19 cases in various states across the country, including Nevada, has given the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) pause in making the final decision to sign the permit application for Best In The Desert’s 2020 Maxxis Tires “Casey Folks” Vegas to Reno Presented by Fox.
The event is still planned for August 12-15, 2020 as originally scheduled, but may be postponed until a later date to allow coronavirus cases to subside.
Best In The Desert is sharing this news with its loyal racers, sponsors, and fans to keep them informed and up-to-date on all the details affecting the status of the race. While Best In The Desert staff and organizers have been working tirelessly to plan a safe event following CDC guidelines, positive COVID-19 cases have recently peaked in several southern states including Nevada. Even though cases are currently trending downwards we all must wait to see if the trend continues.

Well if this race gets pushed too far off, maybe some teams will come up to Utah for the BOR 200 mile night race (Aug 22)! You can park those swamp coolers by my pit Dan  I just googled the distance at 406 miles from Vegas!! (6 hrs 14 mins, if you go the speed limit!).

It's only 43 miles past the NV border at Wendover, and I heard they don't make 3.2 beer anymore for Utah!

There is another thread on RDC about this race.

When does BITD usually put out their next year schedule? Is it usually around V2R? Memory is foggy in my old age.

So many variables at this point but given SCORE dropped theirs, it’ll be interesting to see what BITD is thinking for 2021.

typically it comes out the week of Vegas to Reno. A few times that has been like a press release party at the event to get everyone pumped for the next year.

dates are currently being worked for 2021 and I know communication has been worse than cold molasses from some places they regularly deal with. Tribal is still completely shut down in Parker Until at least the end of August so I would not expext anything for the entire year until mid September. Permits for 250 and 425 have already been filed though.

I think Bluewater permits are already done. Navajo nation opened up At Lake Powell a week ago. So it seems like the Indians think the worst is behind them. They got hit pretty hard early on.

currently Parker as far as CRIT is still on stay at home order with Casino closed. BITD has already had many talks with the Tribal representatives though and they are still expecting to have the event in October. 250 and 425 dates are pretty firm as well.

There is a possibility of the casino still being closed in October. They just extended their closure to a min of Aug 30th.

Yeah this year is just a mess at this point. I’m still hoping we get things back going. Like many of you I am watching my company get destroyed month by month.

I'm not wanted by any race org...... (because of political beliefs)..... Sometimes I feel like a Jewish refugee in a Barbara Streisand movie......

You have to watch it to the end to see her playing to an empty theater and then the Corona Virus takes over the screen..... !!!!! Epic... Prophetic...!!!!

I think I can help here. I've done years of research and I'm ready to share the lessons learned to help a fellow "racer". You can overcome this obvious injustice with just two simple steps. Might want to screen shot this for future reference...ready? Here goes...

1. Send in an entry form.

2. Send a check to pay entry fee.

Given your legendary status in the sport I could see how an org would instantly turn you away as soon as they see your name on the registration, but I promise that if you do those two things, you can sneak yourself in to any race you choose. Feel free to PM me for more top tips on how to stop being a self described victim.
