I recently picked up a ford 9" out of a van. it is a lot longer that normal truck sizes and longer than the lincons that i heard of people using. the rear end i have is 63" and i am woundering what size everyone else uses? should i spend the money to shorten this one or wait until i can find a smaller one? any reply will be great.

The rear end is for a dezert truck, it is going on a ford ranger with a 3 link.

I heard that you do not want the rear wider than the front or you lose some of your turning. is this true? this is the only reason i wanted to get the rear end cut.

Thats true. If you look at a stock Ranger the front is about 2 inches wider than the rear. This helps in preventing the backend from pushing the vehicle during turns. when I set up my truck, I built my rearend to be the same difference (2 inches) between the front and the rear track width. The rear width just depends on how wide you are going in the front.
