Anyone ever build a little one seater buggy

a buddy of mine wants to build a one seater buggy and this is probabley the best place to ask if anyone has ever done this or knows someone who has. Hes planning on putting a gsx 750 street bike engine in it and he has a couple plans that he got but he wants a lot more suspension then the plans call for. Thanks for any help.

my friend bought a homemade one which ran awesome through just about anything. it had a kz1100 enigne and when that thing caught on fire, he tore it down and made it into a two seater. he ended up scrapping EVERYTHING minus the bucket seat and steering wheel.
those single seat, long travel, mini cars are sooo much fun.

attached is a photo during fab work of the 2 seater.

I was wanting to build one awhile ago but I decided on a vw one because its alot easier and cheaper to do. Ive seen some that are IRS, and some that have a quad style rear suspension.

There is also this orange buggy that races mdr but I dont know if its motorcycle powered or not (probably not)

DraKart makes some really nice ones too, with Fox coilovers with IRS. They have an ad in Quicksand 3, and had a booth at the last Off-Road Expo. I would say go with an independant rear supension, but VW style trailing arms might work just as well or better.

My bad, yes I know, swingaxle and trailing arms on VW's are IRS, what I ment to say an A-arm setup in the rear vs. VW style rear.

I've got a buddy with a mini mag that's been widened and or lengthened a little and it has a wild 1600 cc VW Rabitt motor in it. He says it's the fastest thing he's ever driven in the dirt and he wants to sell it bad. If you're serious, lemme know and I'll hook you up with pics and his phone number, etc. I don't know how much he wants, but it's way less than $10k!

The Orange Mini-mag in the pic belongs to Chris Parr. He has 4 of them. He was hoping more would come out and race. Maybe you can buy one of his so he has someone to run around with. He talked about the one Billy mentioned. Said it has a full race Rabbit motor and is lengthened.

chenowth made the mini mags, i think 89-93 ? i believe they were 15 grand new, race ready. it was a spec class in that modifications were not allowed. they had snowmobile engines, not sure what cc. pci scott could answer any questions you have as he raced one successfully.
