Saw this today, and was pleasently surprised!

Finally, calling and txting is free for US att wireless users when traveling to Mexico.....

Its totally free, but you need to go to your ATT online and add the free plan to your plan.

Of course, they do this just AFTER the baja 1000. I had to add a expensive plan to use when in mexico....

They offered that just before the 1000 and I added it to mine. It worked for me. But I am still switching to T-Mobile. Cheaper monthly rate with more data than I currently have for our family.

I couldn't be happier with T-Mobile. We switched just before the 1000. So nice to have full LTE data in Ensenada and beyond without any extra charges. Their service is vastly improved here in the states as well. Still not Verizon but getting a lot closer. I love the whole Binge On thing too.

Up until a few weeks ago the only time I hated T-Mobile was while at work. Im less than a mile from the border and it would keep switching from Mexico 3G to US 4G LTE to sometimes nothing.

Looks like they finally fixed it because I get 4G LTE almost all day now

Day late and a Peso short. Jumped to T-Mobile, have my main account there and used one phone for 3 weeks in Nov then cancelled, no issue whatsoever. In Phoenix our place is in a dead spot, called T-Mobile and they sent out a signal booster, now LTE throughout the place and no charge! I initially cancelled the data on my ipad because no service but as long as I have an account I get 1G free forever on the ipad with their sim.

Thanks for the heads up.

Doesn't T-mobile use Wifi calling also which would solve the deadspot problem. As long as you have wifi.

The new stadium in Vegas is T-mobile and will have special deals and entrance for T-Mobile subscribers. Thinking of getting a Hot Spot for that reason alone.

Seems like t-mobile phones work better on telcel network than att phones on tecle network. I have read they have a few more frequencies.

You may look at those rates again.....I had T-Mobile...just switched to ATT. In baja my texting was Ok, Call's sucked, and the internet was un-existent unless you had some on kill wifi. Half the group I was with was on ATT and their service was double what mine was. Also t-mobile in parker blows, outside of vegas blows...everywhere we go racing my service sucked. In parker this last weekend my service (att) was great except in the Keys at the house.

Interesting. My ATT worked awesome as in perfect at the Baja 1k. Had service all the way down till where we hit no where's land.

Data, texting, etc. perfect.

Once you cross the border you are roaming on Telcel, Movistar or Nextel networks. So in theory if your US plan allows for unlimited text and calling the service will work the same regardless if you have ATT or T-mobile.

biggjim, You are the first one that I've heard have connection problems at US races on T-mobile compared to ATT. Has anyone else had the same experience?

I have had T Mobile since before it was cool. Lived in Parker since 2001. Good coverage most places, even on the water. Vegas is good also. Have not gone to Mexico. Yuma and Calexico is as close as I get, and it works good there. Vegas to Reno is spotty at best.

LOL!!!! Sounds like my luck.Parker... My T mobile would really only worked well at the casino. I had texting barley at the house in the keys, Foxes, on the river, and The pit area.

In vegas I always had text and talk...no media...i couldn't connect to the internet if my life depended on it...unless I had good WIFI. The henderson/mint course I didnt have anything at main pit or alternate off knight ranch road, but I had service over at primm in pits.

vegas to reno...nothing...no text...no talk...Dead

Silver state... NOTHING... my last hit would be off the 15 coming and going.

Baja text worked ok most the way to San Quintin, but no media/internet

I have kept T mobile for 2 years based solely off not having to dick around with another phone in Baja....after the 1000 and the group that was with me their ATT's worked flawless...thats what made me switch.

Jim - I got a T-Mobile sim b4 the 1000 and was having problems (using an unlocked cell phone), I found that the phone was using the wrong APN setting. Once I changed over to the correct T-Mobile APN I got call, txt & data with no issues (until we went south of El Rosario)
