We have been building a new search engine for cars. "au.to" and were thinking of a promotional vehicle to promote the brand. So we decided to chop a vw bus to attract attention. Been fun little project thought I'd share...

Buddy had a '59 with a Corvair engine, transmission, and rear suspension. Also had "stacks" at each rear corner.

He carried his light show in it, but the real show was how light the front was: tough to keep the wheels on the ground with even a second gear start.

It was the '60's.

Looks cool, gunna drop a turbo Subie in it?

We intentionally didn't do a split window or we wouldn't hear the end of it. It also had a rear hit and has a newer rear top you can see the air intakes are from a newer model. So it was already a Frankenstein...

Aaron, I saw this thread just before heading to Alaska last week for a vacation with the family. And as coincidence would have it, I came across an AU.TO. promo bus cousin (VW short bus) being used as a promo vehicle for a local business in Anchorage. (If I recall correctly it was an auto stereo shop.) If your interested in seeing it, I found this video of it on-line. Link

Very cool Gary, I would be scolded by all the vw purist to do a split window bus! Yes I already ruined the tail pipes from wheelies!
