This is all second hand info so it might not be 100 % accurate:

Spirkoff - 2 torque converters, then had a small fire
Collins - cam / timing issues
Ickler - never started
Vessels - cooked his motor
Vildolsola - ventilated his block
TSCO ( Weyhrich ) they did finish
Meyers class 10 won / class 1 car lost a motor
Ragland - some type of electrical issue ( ignition related )

I think it is throwing a rod.

My uncle used to drag boat race. They ran a blown Arias hemi motor. It threw two rods on one pass...one of the rods flew through the block and put a huge hole in the side of the boat.

BRAAAAAAAAP!

We were in the pits with our 12 car at El Crucero when Newhan stopped. He was having some major rear brake problems.

Did anyone hear about that telephone pole in san felipe that everyone kept on hitting? Some of our chase guys were there and started to flag people down.
