Can someone help me view those videos? I have the latest version of WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER, but the clips will not open. If someone can tell me where to download the player that will let me view those, I would really aprecciate it.

The worst part is that your are 1 mile into the race and already your day is over - or at the least starting off pretty crappy... And besides that, Sal warned all the 1600 cars, and I assume the 5/1600 behind us, before we started..

oh yeah,
i almost forgot to add.
There was a gray full size pre runner having "fun" around the place where the rolls took place.
As a matter of fact he was right on lonnie's @$$ when he (lonnie helmbolt) rolled. He had the best seat in the house.
The gray truck had nothing to do with the accident but he must of had a "nice" view.

I saw Lonnies truck after the race and it was a mess. All front and rear tubing was ripped off the truck. How about Robby Gordon? You should have seen him blow the turn off the black top onto the dirt at Ojos Negros! He must have been doing over a hundred when he blew the turn, locked em' up sliding the truck sideways for at least 200 feet. Then stomped on the gas and doing a full 360 upon entering the dirt and leaving the scene like a bat out of hell. That guy is plum loco!

I think you are right. The truck had new style Chevy glass on it like Mike Dougherty's truck, not dodge. Lonnie's name was on the side of the truck however.

that was a pretty bad area. we happened upon it when we drove over the bridge and saw the crowds. parked and watched for a while, looked at the busted up trophy truck (it was greer, broken nose- helmbolt was supposed to drive later), saw the 1012 flip, and a couple of others , then decided that we'd seen enuf. 1012, i was the gringo that offered to pull you guys back to where ever, if we coulda pushed your car up to the road...glad you made it out okay. went to santo tomas from there. got to see the Herbst truck make a 3 point turn on that section. kinda funny to see that beast doing 5 mph, having to back up, cut it, and then take off. looked like it was only 2wd at that point, but kinda hard to tell. also saw the mcmillins, the truggy, duralast, corona, a bunch of motorcycles/quads. we then went down the course, maybe a half a mile, and watched Robby take a speed bump in the middle of a road at 100+ mph, i'm guessing. he was absolutely screaming. baldwins had come by before him, but didn't look half as fast. still cool though.
pretty interesting trip, since i'd never been down there before, and my passenger has never even seen an off-road race live. he was amazed at what we saw. unfortunately, we just didn't like mexico itself, especially the guys toting guns, banging on my truck for stickers. not a big fan of the crazy streets with no signs, or the crazy drivers on them...but oh well, it was still fun.

It was just a new body on his car, took a long time to get it ok'ed from score, he had some problems. don't know what they were but heard him calling on the radio.

We got third in class 12 and I think we moved up to 1st overall, but will see. no pics yet

You should have heard them on the radio when they found out that Tim had lost all forward gears on the TT about 12 miles from the finish line! McMillions were going nuts! Tim tried to drive backwards to the finish but ended up getting toed in. Scott has it all on video.

Congradulations Frank on the third place finish and on your season points lead. The pics are cool. Sorry that I couldn't make it. I trust you had ample pit support and no major problems. Give me a call when you get a chance.

It is NOT LOnnie Hembolt's truck. It belongs to Glen Greer of Tucson, who was driving at the time. My report will submit "excuses" for the brain fade.

Perhaps.

Our Friend Al with OUCH Productions caught these close calls and crashes on video. I don't know the whole storry.. like why so many vehicles crashed right there. Its a reminder how dangerous off-road racing can be.
