that was a pretty bad area. we happened upon it when we drove over the bridge and saw the crowds. parked and watched for a while, looked at the busted up trophy truck (it was greer, broken nose- helmbolt was supposed to drive later), saw the 1012 flip, and a couple of others , then decided that we'd seen enuf. 1012, i was the gringo that offered to pull you guys back to where ever, if we coulda pushed your car up to the road...glad you made it out okay. went to santo tomas from there. got to see the Herbst truck make a 3 point turn on that section. kinda funny to see that beast doing 5 mph, having to back up, cut it, and then take off. looked like it was only 2wd at that point, but kinda hard to tell. also saw the mcmillins, the truggy, duralast, corona, a bunch of motorcycles/quads. we then went down the course, maybe a half a mile, and watched Robby take a speed bump in the middle of a road at 100+ mph, i'm guessing. he was absolutely screaming. baldwins had come by before him, but didn't look half as fast. still cool though.
pretty interesting trip, since i'd never been down there before, and my passenger has never even seen an off-road race live. he was amazed at what we saw. unfortunately, we just didn't like mexico itself, especially the guys toting guns, banging on my truck for stickers. not a big fan of the crazy streets with no signs, or the crazy drivers on them...but oh well, it was still fun.
