Greetings All!

We sent out this information today regarding next week's big Baja Legacy / Horsepower Ranch event at the Tecate SCORE Baja 500. I urge you to call the reservation line as soon as possible @ 949-939-3864 -- tickets are going pretty quickly. Like the 1000 Miles to Glory night in 2000, this thing is taking on a positive life of its own and the ranch and new Carrera Cantina are going to be something very welcome to all of us off-road racers and enthusiasts.

See you all in Ensenada next Thursday night!

With kind regards,

Marty Fiolka
The Rennsport Group

A CELEBRATION OF OFF-ROADING’S HERITAGE:
FIRST ANNUAL ‘’BAJA LEGACY” PARTY SET FOR SCORE BAJA 500”

-- Event to Host Legendary Personalities and Machines at New Off-Road Destination --

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif., (May 22, 2003) -- Designed to celebrate the rich off-road heritage of Baja, SCORE International’s 30th Anniversary and the official grand opening of the Horsepower Ranch located just outside of Ensenada in Baja, Mexico, plans for the first annual “Baja Legacy Celebration” are being finalized. The event, timed to coincide with the 35th running of the Tecate SCORE Baja 500, will feature a collection of rare vintage off-road machinery and the special recognition of a select group of Baja off-road race and industry personalities.

The evening’s activities will also be highlighted by the unveiling of the ranch’s Mad Dog’s Carrera Cantina, a recently refurbished bar featuring rare Baja race memorabilia, off-road video presentations and select artwork from author Marty Fiolka’s forthcoming coffee table history book “1000 Miles to Glory.” Guests will also enjoy a huge Mexican fiesta complete with three live bands, food, commemorative t-shirts and posters, as well as a live big screen presentation inducting a special group of Baja legends into the Carrera Cantina’s “Walls of Fame.”

A joint production of Wide Open Baja Adventures, the Rennsport Group, Team Centrix, SCORE International and Papa’s and Beer, the Baja Legacy event will honor a stellar list of eight first-year inductees that includes: Sal Fish, celebrating his 30th anniversary as CEO of SCORE International, Bruce Meyers, inventor of the original fiberglass dune buggy and the first Baja four-wheel record holder, Corky McMillin, the oldest active driver in this year’s Tecate SCORE Baja 500 and patriarch to the famous McMillin racing family, Ron Bishop, the only person ever to ride in every single Baja 1000 on a motorcycle, Drino Miller, off-road pioneer and winner of the 1970 Mexican 1000, Malcolm Smith, motorcycle industry icon and Baja 1000 race winner, Dick Landfield, long-time Enduro racing team owner and Ford factory representative, and Doug Robertson Jr., Baja and off-road champion and president of Bilstein Corp, the longest corporate supporter of SCORE International off-road racing.

The line-up of original race vehicles that will grace the Baja Legacy event are as impressive as the VIP line-up itself. Currently scheduled to appear are such historic vehicles as; “Old Red,” the original fiberglass dune buggy of Bruce Meyers, the 1970 “Dune Buggy Magazine” special of Drino Miller, “Macadu,” an original Porsche-powered race car from the 1980s out of the McMillin racing stable, the recently restored “Bilstein Baja Bug” made famous by the Robertson brothers, the bright yellow Meyers Manxster driven in last year’s Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 by Meyers and original race winner Vic Wilson, as well as the recently restored Ford Stroppe Bronco driven to victory in the 1968 Mexican 1000 by Rod Hall and Larry Minor. Also on display will be a selection of current race vehicles that will compete in the weekend’s rugged 500-mile desert race.

Located on 140 acres of rolling hillside just six miles east of downtown Ensenada, the recently refurbished Horsepower Ranch is being converted into an off-road version of a full-service destination resort. The property includes 50 guest rooms, a heated pool, the Wide Open Baja service shop, and, of course, Mad Dog’s Carrera Cantina. The ranch will be available for large private parties and group reservations later in 2003.

“For all of us who are bonded to SCORE International and the Baja off-road fraternity, there has never really been a special place to call our own,” explained Wide Open Managing Partner Todd Clement, whose adventure company leases the property as a base of operation for its Ensenada tour operations. “The Horsepower Ranch will not only provide a great and comfortable haven for the entire off-road community, but also the perfect place to begin and end Baja adventure trips and race pre-runs.”

“The grand opening of the Horsepower Ranch and the creation of the Carrera Cantina will give off-roading in Baja a real boost, “added Sal Fish, CEO of SCORE International. “We are even more excited that the sport’s great heritage will be showcased in such a unique way. The Baja Legacy event has all the makings of a truly special long term Tecate SCORE Baja 500 tradition.”

The Baja Legacy Celebration will begin on Thursday, May 29th at 6:00pm, with the live stage presentation at 7:30pm. Admission is only $15.00 per person, which includes dinner, entertainment and a specially designed event t-shirt. Beer is only $1.00, and margaritas only a dollar more. Due to overwhelming response, advanced reservations are strongly suggested and can be made by calling (949) 939-3864.

Just got back from Horsepower ranch and those of you that attend the party are in for a fun time. The Ranch is awesome and will be a place to base camp out of for future preruns and day trips to Baja. Tha Ranch is just 6 miles out of Ensenada, but seems like it is in its own world in a beautiful green valley. PCI Racing will be staying at the Ranch and the whole team should be feeling pretty dull at Contingency on Friday. See you guys Thursday night at Horsepower Ranch, remind me and I will buy you a beer for a buck! Later, Scott
