I know some of the statistical wizards will know this but I was curious as to what is the highest placing of a 10 Car at a "Major" race, Baja, Mint etc.

I believe it was the 2006 Baja 1000 but Darren Hardesty finished 9th overall in his VW powered 10 car.

As mentioned in that article about the Sourapas' win at the 1000, Marty Reider was another guy in 10 who placed 2nd overall at many races in a VW 10 car at that time. And Rob MacCachren won several races overall in his Bunderson 10 car back in those days running SNORE and Silver Dust races.

Was that against the Land Shark?
The truggy was back a little bit. Broken header put them down a little bit. Herbst TT won. (Almost lawn darted at the start) that would have been interesting! Fun times back in the old days. Oh ya, all vehicles were on the track at the same time.

We got 11th overall at this years Mint in our 2406 (which is pretty much a 10 car)
Deffinitly not the best ever, but considering the guys at that race. Im proud of it :)

Actually that was with a VW 1650CC motor that maybe had 90HP and a VW bus transmission. No match to the 10 cars of today. That year Dave and I also finished 2nd overall at the Mint and the Frontier 500. The Raceco we ran had many top 5 overall finishes the three years we ran it.
