If you're new to this, make the first one easy. Go to Laughlin. Plenty easy to spectate, easy accommodations, easy access to the track, etc... Trying to spectate at a race where movement is involved is hard enough to do when you have been doing this for a long time. The reason they have races like Rage or BAP is for people just like you to get out and enjoy lots of racing with little trouble.
The Rage at the River is million percent better for spectators and really designed for spectators to easily enjoy. The Pahrump race is not a spectator race. Now that being said racers better be prepared for what Casey said is one of the roughest courses he has had an event on in many years with the Pahrump Nugget 250 - No races in years and recent rain washes are going to make it a challenge. Make sure you are signed up for the pre-run event if you are racing!
