I saw this in a magazine advertisment for a CNC machine shop, I checked the website and it's W-16 engine block for the Bugatti Veyron. The site had a video showing the entire block being cut from a single aluminum billet.

The video is about 10 minutes long and the music gets old after about 10 seconds, but I thought the whole process was amazing so I'm posting here for others to see.

I wonder what that engine can REALLY do?

1000hp with 16 cylinders and 4 turbos isnt really very impressive. It is a crazy design however. They have 8 and 12 cylinder versions as well.

If you want to really be blown away, look into this car a little more, I think it has no less than 10 radiators...the amount of cool stuff they crammed into this car is fantastic. Self adjusting(lowering) suspension, active aerodynamics...top gear did a story on one, simply B/A...1.6 mil buys a lot of bells and whistles. The kicker is that the w16 block came from VW minds..

to give you an idea of just how tight the tollerances are on this thing look at how close the cylinders are in relation to each other...imagine the rebuild process $$$$...

I was looking at that... The cylinder to cyliner wall thinkness is very thin!!!! I wonder how many miles this engine will go before it needs a rebuild?

Also, I was under the impression that the W18 was two narrow angle VW style 60* V8s sandwiched together in a small package with a common crank, basically like the VR6 engine and its W12 version. To me this looks more like a 90* V16 with unique spacing and positioning of the cylinders... It does not look to me that the banks of siamesed cylinders are at a 60* angle, they look parallel to me...

Maybe the vid explains more, I did not watch it as my connection out in the TN sticks is kinda slow...

Why is this the first time I have heard of this thing...?

0-60 in 1.67 lol that's ridiculous. And it is half the price of a Veyron, although the Veyron is pretty much a bently and that TKR looks like a straight up race car.
