Guys. . .we picked up a project truck that came with a 350SBC backed by a TH350/Dana 18 twin stick.

I was able to pick up a matched set 14-bolt rear/Dana 60 front axle and NP205 for $250 to replace the Timken rear/D28 front that came on the rig.

Question. . .what should I do, if anything, to prep the TH350 for off-road/4x4 use?

Thanks!

I have been running a mildly built t350 trans in my 76 Blazer rock crawler/wheeler matted to a mildly built sb400 for like 12 years and stills works great. It is matted to a atlas 5to1 t case, with 14bolt rearend, dana60 front end, on 39.5 bfg crawlers it works great. IMO the slow speed rock crawler type vehicle is much nicer on transmissions then desert racing is. I have a good cooler on it (important piece).

Your set-up sounds very similar (if not nearly identical) to what I'm swapping under/into our '49 Jeep Willy's Pick-up Truck project. . .

. . .a 350SBC backed by a TH350 which right now is mated to a Dana 18 twin stick t-case, but I have an NP205 to swap in a little later. . .and I just picked up a 14-bolt rear/Dana 60 front out of a '73 Chevy (also where the NP205 came from and an SM465. . .all for $250) and I snagged a set of 40x16.50x17 BFG MTR's mounted on 17" Hummer H2 wheels (got the wheels/tires for $500!!!). . .I came across a couple of good "steals" this past week on Craig's List! I was able to snag a '68 Cadillac 472 short block for free as well for a future '49-51 Mercury Lead Sled/cruiser project. . .not to shabby!!!
