We'll be running one GoPro Wide in the car for the PowderPuff. What are the prefered placement locations? We'll have a rollbar mount for it.

Someplace within reach of the co-driver while strapped in. Tell them to wipe the lens every time they wipe their face shield.

We stick ours between and behind us and the co-dogs are able to wipe it off as needed!

Depends on car and camera being used. Haven't played w/ anything lately so things might be better but I would test it out.

If you mount it like ML Racer you may have issues w/ everything outside the cab being overexposed. If you have plenty of light inside the cab area this is less of a problem. The windshield opening can also effect performance. And then it comes down to what camera is being used. Some handle the vastly different light levels better then others.

Thanks for the info and opinions. I've gone through with the DOR and looked at a bunch of different videos and I thing we like the videos with the camera centered towards the front of the car, around the dash area. We like the view giving maximum landscape and suspension.

<object width="400" height="300" ><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://www.facebook.com/v/1192443056136" /><embed src="http://www.facebook.com/v/1192443056136" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="300"></embed></object>

This is with the camera mounted to the hood. We're going to try and move it up higher in hopes of seeing more suspension action and less hood.

Hmmm, that didn't work too well. Any tips on embedding video?

Just post the URL as opposed to the embed code.

I don't think Facebook videos are supported, but if you upload it to YouTube, you can post the URL and it will show up like this:

great placement and i love the quality of the video! i think i will mount my handycam on the dash right about there instead of where it was (middle of rear window so you could see the drivers) because the camera wouldn't adjust to the bright outside light and the darker incab. And it was too low.

We're pretty happy with how it turned out, but next time I think we're going to mount it up higher with the intention of getting more suspension action in the frame.

I have noticed that it you place the camera on the front center up by the dash as shown in the picture, you dont have to whipe the lens clean. I think this is because being up front the dust passes by, where inside the cab the dust sits and settles.

Here is a video from the same race the photo was taken at...

And another video with more leading edge of the hood, which I like better...

Cool videos. Having the hood in there reminds me of Dragnet...

Yeah the first video I posted was one of the last things we did before leaving the shop and it was the first time we ever recorded anything from an in-car view as we forgot to turn it on at the Parker race LOL but I like being able to see part of the hood as well as it helps with realizing speed and being out front I think it has a better field of vision....

The camera used in the videos is called the ATC3K from Oregon Scientific it runs on 2 AA Batteries and a 4 GB SD Card and records for 6 hours....and the camera was only 120 bucks!

Exactly! For 120 bucks you can't pass it up. Especially when you then have proof of the stories you are telling everyone back at the shop! However the camera doesn't lie either and it shows everything from that race haha meaning the things you don't tell about either! Anyways I know the atc3k isn't as clear as other systems but for 120 bucks you can't go wrong we will have another one on the truck facing the drivers compartment before our next race as well!

Yeah, if I could pull it off, I'd have 3 cameras on the car. One facing forward, one facing backwards and one on the cockpit.

LOL... When trent uploads and edits his videos he speeds up the film so he looks faster. HAHAAHAH (kidding)

I really liked the wide angle view diirk. It gives a great perspective over more concentrated views. I think it came out great.

I like seeing a bit of the cockpit too though. Its cool to watch the drivers hand movements, see the steering wheel. I wanna see the wide shot with the suspension in the bottom of the frame too though.

Do the up high mount and put it online for us. I bet it would be sweet but might make hitting bigger whoops etc. less intense. The best in car footage makes you feel like you were actually in the car.
