Not to sure if this has been covered yet but I was wondering who gets the best coverage out in the desert? Im actually wondering who has the best service----Verizon or Cingular? Sounds kind of goofy, but damnit---we all know its a problem. Or if you have another company that gets even better coverage??? Thanks everyone.

I have Nextel. I get great coverage in Glamis, and in Barstow. I get no coverage at Ocotillo, I get it if I go to Blu-Inn.

If I remember correctly. My sprint worked awesome at Primm and down in Mex. But cant remember Barstow, I want to say yes.

Sprint will work in Primm, and Barstow.....It WILL NOT work at ALL in Ocotillo, Lucerne, Glamis...

I would NOT recommend Sprint at all, I have it and its not to good.

Do a search as there was a huge discussion about this a while back.

I have been all over california, nevada, and arizona and verizon has worked really well. I also took a trip last summer to Alaska and was fishing in the middle of nowhere and I had coverage. My buddy with verizon just took a cruise in the carribean about a month ago and had coverage over 100 miles off of Florida's coast. Verizon has always been good for me.

I have ATT and it works everywhere I go offroading, Ocotillo, Barstow, Lucerne, Havasu. Worked out in Primm too. Too bad it sucks around town!

This has already been covered so do a search. The outcome was ...go with a big name..Verizon, ATT or even Nextel. They have the most coverage because they have access/own the most sites. Dont give into the hype of the "cool" cell phones cingular, boost, and t mobile offer...go with something proven.

I have cingular and it works sparaticly (sp?) in ocatillo. worked at primm everywhere all over the freeways in socal but thats about it. Friends hava att and it worked at camp when mine barely did. cingular had full service at the bottom of blowsand on new years eve that was the first time i had seen that much service since i left temcula. seems like every cell pjhone is hit or miss aslong as you ara driving around in ocatillo.

I switched from qwest to verizon, and have not found a spot yet without coverage. Btwn rock crawling and trail riding. Haven't been to races with it. But I looked and could not find a better coverage area for home rate than verizon.

AT&T has worked everywhere for me. I've called from the starting line and pits in Lucerne to the canyons in Laughlin. I get incoming calls in Baja and if I knew Spanish I would be able to make outgoing ones there too. I've had some of the others and the coverage was bad.

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?!?

i've had both verizon and currently cingular. i like both . my verizon plan had free roaming so when i went out of their area , the call was still free , like in laughlin for instance. where as with cingular , laughlin is still in there network so it was a regular call. couldnt get a signal in glamis with verizon and i havent tried cingular yet. my cingular has worked everywhere else though.

Well I've got both Nextel and ATT and I have to say, I am glad I have ATT because if I had to rely on Nextel I would be outta luck. I drive daily from Ventura to Santa Monica, going through the canyons to PCH and down to SM and my ATT phone works all the way while my work's Nextel doesn't.. Sometimes makes for a quiet drive home. LOL. I do like the fact that the Nextel radio feature works in LV and Laughlin (although they don't allow you to use them on the casino floor). For your money, if you're going to travel into remote areas, don't get a Nextel. Sorry Nextel.

Much to my suprise my SPRINT PCS phone working in Glamis and Ocotillo. Ofcourse, there are parts where it doesnt but there are parts that no cell phones work in the desert. The best I have seen have to be AT&T phones.
