Silverstate-300 is coming up, but not a single 1100 (class-12) entry and only one 2000 (1600) entry. Though it is a cool point to point loop course, the $1750 fee, which includes the $100 tracker rental fee, is just ridiculous.
BITD is pumping up how they have "over 200 teams entered", but the truth is that is MOSTLY UTVs, ATVs, and motorcycles...who only pay $300-500 for the amateur classes.
I've wanted to race this course myself for ages, but the costs are kinda unrealistic. How does everyone else feel about this and other BITD events and how they killed 1100 at BITD.
My intention is to race Caliente-250 in June, which takes in sections of the SS-300 course.
Benny, I agree with costs deal. Also just coming off of the Primm race that drags in big car counts, it may be too soon afterwards. For myself I am nearing completion of my new car I look forward to running again!
Did that at the Parker 425 in 2017 when there weren't any 12/11's entered. Was cool being apart of the event but the competition adrenaline rush just wasn't there at the starting line running against a mix of trucks, buggies, prerunners etc.
I guess I'd better officially enter the Caliente-250 race seeing folks are trolling the entry lists. Zak's idea isn't bad with a sportsman entry push, I fear it would be hard to get enough interest...might be wrong on that though. Sportsman was only $900. It would only be worth it if we got enough 12 cars entered at a particular event. I'd like to see that happen at Vegas to Reno...the ultimate USA point to point.
Change of plans...because I'm headed to Switzerland in July for an Ironman and my training is pretty much all-consuming for June, I'll be skipping Caliente-250.
As a consolation, I've committed to Vegas to Reno in August. That means if anyone was considering V2R you'll now have at least one other 1100 competitor...unless we go the sportsman route with a group of the 1100-willing (class-12).
It's a long and notably silty course (in sections). Just finishing is an achievement. Running a mobile crew over the event is also challenging for some teams because it's 550 miles point to point.
I'd love to see some competition, but we all know the good, the bad, and the ugly with BITD.
I was just thinking about this. Is there a group of 12's (1100) cars going to V2R. It's the most awesome race in America! Anyone who hasn't run it doesn't know what they are missing. Has there been a Class "12" Coalition started to keep this class afloat? Has anyone approached BITD about the fee schedule RE: class 1100? Maybe they aren't seeing the light......that there ARE Class 1100 cars that want to race but feel the fees are too ridiculous. I thought the fees were decided by environmental impact among other things. Pro UTV's are tearing it up just like any other Pro class. BITD should just level out the fees to share the cost load. I see no other reason to charge one class over another.
It was 11 entry’s but one dropped out. Brutal race course, my car looks like it went through a war! We almost pulled off a 2nd but missed a VCP and 10 minute penalty put us back to 3rd. Either way, if you are not 1st you are last lol!
