I don't mean for this to be another "not another new class" convo but looking through old photos, I think it would be a super cool pipe dream kind of thing to see an old school Class 6 production car class make a come back. I feel like these Hooptie X/Gambler guys are kind of on that march already, they just aren't that involved in off road racing. But the idea of some kind of limited rules production sedan class would be fun to have back IMO. If you could set it up in a way to keep costs reasonable (another pipe dream, I know), I think it would be a really fun way to have a cheap, fun class to go make some dust with.

Never even knew what class 6 was until today's RDC post
Back in the old "days" they were on par with the Class 11 guys in terms of cool/respect factor. In my book anyway. Probably even harder to do these days with how chewed up race courses get but no different than the other limited classes. Even if it were a 1 lap class or whatever on loop races, just having this kind of class for people to be creative and have fun slamming together a "car" to go race would be pretty cool IMO.

If my mom's Camry can survive my mom, it can take on Barstow Main. Sign me up!

I so miss this class. Back in the '80' there were quite a few at each race.

Again we always talk about the horror of making a “new” class, but this is one I’d love to see make a comeback.

Class 6 was always fun to watch,

The Cutlass was always my favorite

It’s really cool to look back to the early to mid 80s even and see the variety of vehicles in that class. Mustang, Ranchero, El Camino, 55/57 Chevy…was actually a really fun class to watch.

Haha that’s awesome. I was going to search for original rules too, lol.

Seems like a good idea especially with a lot of the sportsman entry level classes like 1450 having skyrocketed in build costs. With limited rules and cheap build price I think the class could gain some traction. Long races would be tough but at smaller courses like Bap or Rage as well as the Gas series it would be a fun class to race.

A claimer class would be good but I'd say break it up. Maybe a claim on shocks, engine, transmission, tires/wheels, etc.
