We are introducing a new class to the DRIVE Series
The new class will be……. “Class 650 - Vintage Vehicles” and will be a Sportsman class. The rules are simple…….Car must be “Vintage” and pass all safety requirements. It will include original Class 6 vehicles as well as many other vehicles that have been collecting the wrong kind of dust. We don’t want to add a bunch of restrictions and we feel that the owners of these vehicles can police themselves as far as “sandbaggers”. The goal is to give these amazing cars and trucks a place to go have fun, run together, and swap stories about racing, restoration, and whatever else they want.
After seeing the AUTOFAB El Camino run at the ORW GP and seeing the response it got from the racers and the spectators we realized that there is a group of vintage race vehicle owners out there that may want a place to go and compete as well as have fun. John, the owner of the El Camino told me that he was a little reluctant to bring it out and run it. He was worried about people giving him a hard time. He called me a few days after the race to compliment DRIVE and most important, compliment all the people at the race for the warm reception of this “outdated” race car.
I spoke to John today and he is the first entry at the November 7th Phantom 200 for the new Class. Class 650 – Vintage Vehicle.
We are looking forward to seeing more vintage cars racing in Plaster City.
I want to thank John from Elite Auto Services for bringing this idea forward and John from AUTOFAB for his advise and as always Ramsey for his experience and creativity.
I’m sure there will be some kinks to work out, but the goal is FUN.
