So it’s official I’ve been bit by the vintage bug! My new purchase is now home. I was fortunate enough to get a box of records so have parts rebuilt or bought new will be a lot easier. It’s very clean considering how long it’s been sitting. I’ll post more as project goes on

That is such a cool truck. Nothing like shocks thru the hood on a step side I remember it Racing Parker I believe when whiplash had the race. Always liked it so good to see it being rebuilt

I couldn’t agree more! This style of truck is what got me hooked when I was a kid. Previous owner stated he ran the Parker and he’s trying to find old pictures to send me

Any idea who built this truck originally? What year it was built?

Congrats Crafty! Stoked for you, but super jealous too!! I've REALLY got to get started on my build!

I’m not sure on the original build date or who built it yet. Last owner bought it wrecked and had AutoFab redo the cage and front clip in the mid 90’s. Early 2000’s Madison in AZ re did front shock towers and King bypass added. I believe he said Grady Smith owned it prior to him but I got more digging to do

The front bypass shocks have been on it for about 18 years and I was told if I don’t change I’ll have to race with the linked class. I really don’t want to re fab shock mounts....

Love this truck Crafty. Great find!! Looks like you have the bubble back window. That’s rare. Are your bedside fenders fiberglass? I have a prerunner very similar to yours and want to have fiberglass molds made for the rear bedside and fender. Trying to see if there is anyone else interested in going in on it.

Thank you! Whole truck is steel except for auto fab fiberglass front clip. Fiberglass bedside would be nice! I love the bubble rear window, looks like most trucks in the 80’s had them.

7 years of not starting the piston rings were stuck. I soaked them for two days and finally got them to break loose by hand. I also got the leaking fuel bladder out. Emailed fuel safe the measurements and photos so they can make me a new one

If you take the bypass shocks off and install king prerunner series 3” smoothies can you run in the same class as Mark Stahl?

If so that is what I would recommend. To make this a full blown Ocho open would mess that truck up.

And if you can just add smoothie shocks, I would have king make there 3” prerunner series smoothies like a by pass with the reservoir off the bottom. This give much better compression damping on the hard hits.

From what I’ve researched 2.5 smoothies is as big as I can go. I want to be able to race in all series. I’ll leave the open stuff to my dads 8 truck which is almost done
