Historically the first stage of any Dakar gets everyone warmed up and the actual race stage (SS) is rather short. This year is no different. Most of racing happens in the deep south of Peru away from the capital city of Lima. Lima is simply the hosting city of Dakar where the 3 day tech inspections happened, the official podium introduction of all competitors and of course the celebration on its last day.

Today is a short stage, and tomorrow cars start first. Opening the road with no bikes traces, so it does not look very important to win today.

Probably Nasser will go for a win in his usual state, the rest will strategically place themselves

First teams are already in Pisco, it is expected that fastest drivers will take about 2 hr to compleet the stage
