Can anyone tell me what has happened to GDV.
@blue dog he broke an engine mount and then broke or lost the oil filter stage 3 (I think) and stage 4 he played water carrier for Ten Brinke when he looked to have smashed a front hub or arm. Not sure how many parts they tore off GDV to get Ten Brinke on his way.

Textron (Arctic Cat) has sucked at every Baja race they have competed in since the Wildcat has come out. Then then they
decide to up the ante and go race Dakar? and...they are sucking! Weird. Polaris and CA are the top of the heap in UTV racing and sales for a reason.
Lol, how far did you go in your first Baja race in a Polaris? The production model XX came out in the middle of 18 so they have very few actual races on them and you know this.
Since you race for a factory Polaris team ( awesome guys by the way) you know every team out there has replaced their transmissions in the field many times because they are crap. They come with bad bearings from the factory and blow apart on a regular basis especially in race conditions.
The Can Ams are definitely better but they still use the front bumper for a bulk head and the frames are weak but they are pouring millions into racing same as Polaris.
It doesn't take a genius to look at the XX and see that it is way better designed and built than both of these machines, it just needs a little time and a bunch of factory backed teams would be nice also.

Edit: isn't there a stop sale on the new Popo S models already?

All the way, finished it and won it in a Polaris. That was 12 years ago. Haha. The team I race with now has finished every race mile they have run in Baja and have six consecutive Milestone awards. They have done zero transmission changes in SCORE races and yes they race with stock bearings in the transmission. Though, I admit they change the aforementioned bearings nearly every race.

Back to Dakar. Super stoked for RB and Shorty! Those guys are doing work. And Skyler Howes. He is having an amazing run for an American priviteer in his first Dakar. Team USA...woot!

So here's the entire story about Nicola Dutto, straight from Nicola:
Yesterday, one of the Ghost riders bike broke, and they spent two hours working on it only to go another10 miles to break again and strand the rider. When the team arrived at the next check point they advised the Dakar Representative that the rider was stuck and needed transportation out. The team was several hours out and asked the Dakar Rally Representative if they could travel on the highway for safety and take a penalty. The Dakar Resentative called Dakar head quarters to check and Head Quarters agreed. At the next check point the team once again stopped and asked another Representative the same question, AGAIN, the Representative called Head Quarters to double check that Nicola's team was abiding by the Dakar Rally Rules, everything was wonderful and the team finished the day.
Now comes the Fun:
Inside the bivouac an official pulled Nicola aside and told him he was disqualified for taking the Highway, (Yes that same lovely highway the Top Dakar Rally Representatives told him to take for safety).
Inside the bivouac Elena Foi went to talk to the Top Representative of the Daker Rally to explain what the riders had been instructed to do for the safety of the team, and to show the Top Dakar Representative the video tape that Julián Villarrubia Garcia took during the telephone calls and exactly what other Representatives told Nicola. The so called Top Representative of Dakar didn't want to hear it and escorted Elena out of his office, with a smug "I make the Rules." WTF, who does this ****! Oh yeah, The French, arrogant bastards!
Here's the part everyone will Love:
So as to NOT MAKE The Dakar Rally Association looked bad, they Said:
Nicola and his team failed to start today's stage, that was the reason for his disqualification. This was 5 minutes after they posted an article that Nicola was still running strong on there Homepage. Gotta love these bastards!
If they didn't want Nicola to race, they should have said so in the first place! But no, let's first take his $.
Everyone should Express there opinion to the Dakar Rally Representatives and Top Sponsors (Red Bull, Motul, etc.) that this type of behavior is not acceptable to anyone, especially a Paraplegic rider trying to create opportunities for future Handicap racers,
Nicola was on his way to a marvelous finish, and I for one am very proud of him, and I am so happy to be part of this team on this glorious life experience. VIVA NICOLA!

Hey - without starting another battle of the bullshit, I have my criticisms of RG but at the end of the day, I want him to finish as much as the next guy. Anyone who makes it to the end deserves respect and when there's hardship along the way even more so.

There was one Textron in the V2R and won it by a large margin. It's really difficult to win with 1 car and there are dozens of Polaris it there. I've driven CanAm Polaris and own the Textron for a reason. The CanAm is a good car the Polaris I see racing have very very little Polaris left in them.
