From the Desert Assassins 1/3/11
If you have seen the all-new Desert Assassins FB page you already know or if you caught the loosest lips in racing, Captain Nimrod on RDC, you also have an idea but this is the first official word.
The 2011 Desert Assassins plans include a shinny new Geiser Bros. Trophy Truck which Jeff and Rick Geiser have already started breathing life into. “We led the 2010 San Felipe 250 right up until the last segment in the very first Geiser Bros. truck ever built and now we will add the 28th version of the trucks with the most wins in off-road racing” said driver Cameron Steele.
In 2010 Geiser Bros. trucks swept every SCORE race and filled the top four spots in the opening round qualifying at the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge. Cameron Steele driving the current DA #16 qualified in that top 4 in 2010 and in 2011 the team will launch their assault again at the SCORE series opening round January 13-16. The series culminates with the 44th Baja 1000 in November and will be the primary series for the DA.
Not since 2008 have the Desert Assassins joined the US based series Best In The Desert (BITD). Now that Lucas Oil Productions have announced new TV shows slated to cover the series the DA will return for the opening round in 2011, the Parker 425 in February.
Parker has a long history with Desert Assassins driver Cameron Steele as he started his first ever drive behind the wheel of his fathers Baja Bug in the snow of the 1985 event where they finished 4th. Cameron went on to earn his first ever win in off-road racing at the then Parker 400 and he looks to return to the podium in 2011.
The new Geiser trucks have proven to dominate and at two races in 2010 new trucks rolled off the shop floor to win races and those same trucks culminated the season with the SCORE #1 plate, which is the goal for the DA in 2011.
You’ll be able to follow the truck build on the Desert Assassins facebook page and through media outlets.
Like truck number 1 the 28th truck will also feature FOX Racing Shox, KMC Wheels, KC HiLiGHTS and MasterCraft suspension limiting straps but new for the 2011 truck will be an all new designed Yokohama Geolander Tire.
Additionally the new truck will feature a Currie Enterprises rear end housing, which is something the Currie family has expanded to from their dominance in many other categories. Currie along with Motive gear have been building the DA third members and drive gears for years and have a long standing relationship with championship winning driver Heidi Steele.
The #16 Trophy Truck will open the year at the following events
* SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge
* BITD Parker 425
* SCORE San Felipe 250
