Does anyone remember the movie Desert Steel that came out in the mid 90's. It had the simons and Roger Mears in it. if I remember right it took place around Las Vegas. It was kind of a lame movie, but it was about desert racing so that made it worth watching. Just wondering if anyone remembers it.

I saw it almost exactly a year ago when i was living in vegas. The movie was way lame but the racing action shots where pretty good.
anyways, i didnt know what it was called till now, thanks.

The movie is pretty lame, but I have a collection of off road related stuff and that movie fit right in. I just picked it up off of ebay for a couple of bucks though, so it didnt cost me much, but I guess it will be worth watching again since I havent seen it in 5 years.

Talking about movies...when I was living in Germany I watched a Paris to Dakar movie in the cinema. It had a story line and 95% real racing action shots. Its about a guy that won a factory ride on a motorcycle team. The team didn't fully support him but he ended up finishing the race.

This was circa 1985-1990. I am sure it was a euopean production. I was the only one in the cinema. The movie was long and played only for 2 weeks or so in one cinema in town. Never seen it on video or TV.

If anyone has resources to dig old flicks up....I would love to see it again.

Try the Internet movie database. Don't know the exact url, but if you put in those three words, the exact webstie should come up. It's something like www.imdb.com or something.

How about the movie "Dirt". It came out in the late 70's and was a documentrary on all kinds of off road stuff, from Baja to sand drags to hill climbs. It was really good. I know the copy right has been bought by a company that puts old movies on video tape, but as of a few months ago they hadn't produced it yet. I call them about every 4 months to try and get then to produce it. I'll find the address and post it so more people can write about it and maybe they'll put it on tape.
Later.

I have a cool movie here to. It is called Mickey Thompson's Off Road Warriors. It came out in the early 80's and has footage from a million different desert races, and stadium races. It has Riverside, and the LA Colusium, among others. These reason I got it is because it has some old footage of my dad, but it has all the greats in it. If you guys ever run across it on ebay or at a pawn shop it is 100% worth buying, and it shows you a side of off road that is long been forgotten about.

That movie Dirt was great! It was just on TV not that long ago too. To look back at what they considered "state of the art" back then and then complain if we only have 12 inches of travel, you just have to laugh.
