What's up with the new issue of Dirt Pilot mag? Turner must be having trouble finding any cool trucks. At least he could of put some photos of some better looking chicks. Anyone agree?

This is interesting that you post this. I have not seen the new issue of dirt pilot but have recieved numerous e-mails regarding the content of the magazine. I heard there is even a centerfold. Anyone else that has seen it care to comment...

I understand the chick on the cover is the model for Red Bull.
Personally the "prerunner chick" is just plain gross. But thats my 2 cents, some dudes like the tatoos/pirercing/bad dye job kinda of thing.

The best part of the mag, is the writing is gettting Much better...best article ever written for that mag is the one on Steve Barlow...(but then I may be biased) ;-)
If you have the first issue of DP and look at it now-it's night and day better.

I have to admit that I was a little shocked at the chicks in the new issue of Dirt Pilot, not so much because they were "dirty" but because they were there at all. I mean I know smut sells, but I had come to think of Dirt Pilot as a magazine for "us" (meaning offroaders both male and female). Obviously the female readers are a minority and they are trying to appeal to the majority. Like that hasn't been done before. As much as I would wish that Dirt Pilot wouldn't fall prey to that, I can deal with it. I would have thought the chicks that are now and I assume will be gracing the pages would at least be all spread eagle on a TRUCK or something though, not just standing there by their lonesome. My inital reaction was "What the hell?" and a friend of one of the DP crew said "Oh you're just jealous." Well duh, who wouldn't want to be 22 again with a gorgeous titty-bar figure, but that's beside the point. A racer friend who was there also, although certainly appreciating the scantily clad female forms, made the comment that his kids read Dirt Pilot, too and he thought it was a little smutty. Another comment I heard was "If I want to look at chicks I want hard-core porn and I usually don't want it at the same time I'm reading about offroad racing." And this is kind of funny, Greg's parents came over for dinner and the magazine was sitting on my desk and Pete (Greg's dad) was all "Whoa ho ho what's thissssssss?" He thought it was a porno mag! Ha ha ha. It's true that the writing in Dirt Pilot is getting better and better and I certainly won't stop reading it because it's not being marketed to ME. Hopefully other female fans of offroading and other dirt sports (which they are now covering and is damn cool) won't feel like it's not a magazine for THEM. The guys at Dirt Pilot are VERY cool and I know they're working hard to make it a quality publication. They're still growing I think and trying to find their niche.

I wouldn't know......I DO have a subscription to DP, but like DezChick, the last one I recieved was w/ the Licitra ProTruck........I'd have to admit it has gotten alot better from their first issue, though.

From what I hear they are going through some transition with personnel changes and format changes. I bet the next issue is much better. Hopefully it will get better and better with each issue. GOOD LUCK!

I saw the issue and it really wasn't that good. It has to be one of the lousiest ones to date besides the first issue, but you really can't count that one.

Ok, it's lacking focus, that is the problem. And it's trying to hard to appeal to the "Extreme" crowd too. Just my observation though.

I'd agree with Shaun......Lay off the "Extreme" tip, ESPN has pretty much burned that avenue out.
Off road racing has always been in a class by itself, and attempting to play to that "genra" and crowd is a bit too far fetched to true enthusiasts/ spectators such as ourselves.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for promoting the sport, and seeing it grow as big as possible..... but then again opinions are like a$$h*les, and I'm probably sounding like one right now, so I'll leave well enough alone, and look forward to my next issue.
I hope it comes soon.......

Not to put my foot in my mouth again......
I really liked the layout of the new Dirt Pilot mag. I think the guys have grown with leaps and bounds.
And the article of Steve Drew @ the playground......My good friend I race DH with, Mike Underwood, runs that place.... I know it well. Why not an entire article on DH racing? Leduc's boys have beeen tearing up the local DH scene for quite some time now, and does anyone know who Brent Foes is? He used to build for Team Nissan back in the day and builds one of, if not the best DH frames IN THE WORLD. Just ask Missy Giove.

Funny, I got my mag just two days ago, and there is a huge spread for the Sand Expo in Vegas..........for LAST MONTH! Ooops!

As for the content, I found a bit funny, especially the hot pre-runner chick.... I need new neighbors....I think I've met her @ Havasu. ; ) And I don't think we need bios of racer/ rally/ DH/ moto/ pit crew types now, do we?

I'm done, and I'll shut the hell up now.........I need some coffee.

It looks like Dirt Pilot is becoming a bit like that magazine "Action Now" that was born from Skateboarder magazine in the early 80's.. It now has a little of everything?

hmmm

I guess theres not enough Off Road racing/prerunners anymore to fill a whole magazine with?
